Re: Riverland Regional Final & Teams event
What date?? I reckon I can be counted as a Waikerie local, seeing as I partied with the footy club after their GF win!

Re: Riverland Regional Final & Teams event
this saturday
Afternoon for the rescheduled regular game
The night is the Regional Final.
You play for Waikerie not too sure about that, but I suppose there is a family connection here though.
Krunchie (VCapt) what do you think ?
Nah no way

I'd be closer playing for Cobbie.
Nah, it's not this Saturday that I'm down there anyway.
Good luck everyone.

Re: Riverland Regional Final & Teams event
Just another thing I would like to add, and I'm not having a go, but hear me out.
I was GUTTED that I couldn't pick Matt Wenske, Clayton Elliott, Chris Willoughby, or the Cryer boys.
Because its THESE guys who DO represent Waikerie, everywhere they go at Poker, everyone knows them as they Waikerie boys. They come to the Renmark games, the Berri game, the Barmera game and now Cobby.
Their poker is getting much better too. Hopefully they will make the team if some of "the selected ones" doesn't wanna come cause he's got a tea party to go to or has to play tennis or lawn bowls or something.
It just sucks that these guys are gonna be there anyway, loving it, having fun as they usually do, being asked by all the other players "Are you on the Waikerie Team?" - "No"(their head goes down).
Yet the guys selected as Captain and maybe replacement Captain are having a little whinge about being too popular to be able to choose what to do with their Sat Arvo!
Just name a team by 2nite and give it to Petro, or, is that all too hard?

Thats ok todd, we weren't having a go at you - just annoyed that we had other stuff on so we couldn't play in what looks like it would be an awesome event.

Re: Riverland Regional Final & Teams event
yea upon reading that, i belive you were.
Now Todd i belive you are being a touch unfair here.
It was not our choice to have this game on a day where our schedules clash, and the point of these posts from Maccatak and myself was to expresss our disapointment of maybe missing this excellent idea due to these comitments.
I think you would have little idea exactly how excited Maccatack was by this idea and how proud he was to be named venue captain, he was likening this to representative sport. I also was quite excited by the idea of this competion and in a way hounoured to be named, So we were being very serious when we posted our thoughts on this thread expresing our concerns of the timing, because we are both
VERRY DISAPOINTED
that we are in a position where we may not be able to make it.
I my self at no stage have said i was definatley out, but instead requested clarification of why the game is when it is, so that i can attempt to re work my weekend, something i find difficult to do with a young family and regular sporting comitments, i accept responibility for this its my life, but doesnt mean i cant be disapointed when things work agianst me, but i also belive i dont need to be berated for commiting my weekend time to my family or a sporting club. Remembering that the sporting clubs get our comitment every week, week in week out, not just 1 suaturday for a random event.
I agree with your coments regarding our strong contingent of players who play up river and yes they will make for fine representatives of the waikerie venue if picked and would make us proud. But also remember of these 5 guys i am aware of at least 3 of them that also play cricket on saturday afternoons and so you are forced to go even deeper into your list. How far down do you want to go before this cheapens the event.
My last point would be simply to stick up for Maccatack who i think your post most "slaps in the face" and sugest that your comments only add to the disapointment that he is already feeling by being forced to choose between 2 sets of team mates and 2 sports he enjoys, and then have one "mate" rub his decision in his face.
Now i am quite happy to take all this back if your coments were tounge in cheek, but sometimes it is quite difficult to tell on the forum.

Re: Riverland Regional Final & Teams event
so wait a minute todd,
you move the game from its regular timeslot to a saturday afternoon (obviously clashing with local sport), and then complain when people have other commitments?
did you ever stop and think that maybe some people have lives outside poker and cannot drop everything because you move an event to another timeslot that was previously free?
i cannot speak for those people that can't make it, but i would be pretty pissed off at your comments if it was me.

Re: Riverland Regional Final & Teams event
I think this is why the statewide regional/venue teams event was put to the backburner, not everyone can be pleased and there will be people pissed off because they arent picked, can't make it etc...
Everyone needs a hug... but not me coz I'm still to freaking sore.

Re: Riverland Regional Final & Teams event
I can't see why anyone is complaining about anything.
Todd didn't want it on the saturday to begin with (from what I can see).
If you are busy and can't make it then that's just how it is.

Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!
