I can see both sides of this, being a previously "hard-core" player for several seasons before coming to my senses and thinking "Wait, I'm going to be at poker anyway, might as well get paid for it...."
As a player I became mates with several TD's, friendships that have only flourished since I started working for NPL. But I can truly say I never understood the "expectations" on a TD/TA until I experienced it personally. For starters, players are not the only ones we have to worry about, for we have 2 masters at all times. The punter, and the venue.
We are hosts, mentors, mediators, police, salespeople & leaders all rolled into one. We all have our own strengths and weakness, and we try to utilise these assests as best as we can to provide the BEST game of poker we possibly can.
99.99% players already know what I'm saying, and most can even empathize with our situation. That said, it's nothing like experiencing it for yourself.
The rare few who do expect too much, and in my experience at least, generally have a reason for this. Only one occasion in my time with NPL has a situation occured where the punter was a regular NPL player i.e. All the others player would claim another free poker league as their prefered provider.
The only reason I mention this is different leagues have different interpretations of situations, which said player would try to
push onto NPL. Not right or wrong, just different, much the same as different TD's coming to different conclusions.
People are different. Tolerance is needed. In all situations.

I would partially agree with this, but that said, nothing is ever going to be perfect. I'm happy to accept the "
at times" mantle in this case, as I know a concerted effort is being made towards that consistency.

At my first (and only) game with a
"certain provider" my mates and I were feared because we could see marked cards on a deck and knew to post our blinds before being prompted by the TD..... And we had dice for our dealer button...
