If your going to multitable, do it with play money first.

If your reliant on watching a table before making a decision don't multitable.

If your are more of an information person, such as using pokertracker, then multitabling becomes easier with that information handy. Not to mention reviewing the information when it does come into it.

If you are multitabling you need to know optimal strategies though to give you the most money. Otherwise if you make a mistake it hurts you a lot more.

i figure that in tournaments, there is a lot more of an opportunity to use strategy to push all in to steal etc. in cash games, its not as important

Yeah I'm the same, I quite often multi-table cash games but prefer to only single table for SNGs or MTTs as I want to be looking for reads on players, spots to steal etc. Also, in low-limit cash games you only really need to play an ABC type game (nothing tricky) and so don't need to give so much attention to each table all the time (especially with poker tracker giving me stats such as how tight/loose etc. others on the table are)

It'll take to long to explain, depends what levels you play and how much you value your ca$h i suppose.

I'm on auto-pilot when i play SNG's.

But theres no need to get a read in MTT's as you will get moved off tables too often.
