Answer
Check-fold. Your opponent is loose and passive, meaning he could have called two streets with a draw. Also, his passivity indicates he’s not going to bet the river unless he has you beat anyway. Check and hope he checks through, but fold if he bets.

No-Limit Hold'em
Blinds: $2/$4
Your stack: $400
Opponent's stack: $380
Question:
Again, you’re playing in a tough six-max game online. In this hand you raise to $13 from early position with
. It is folded to the button, who flats, and the blinds fold. Your read on the button is that he is a tough regular who is tricky; the two of you have history. The flop comes
. You bet $20 and he raises to $65. What should you do?

Re: Question of the Day - 09/09/08
I would re-raise again.
He thinks maybe I didn't hit the king and I put him on a nice A, either AQ or AJ. If he has hit I put him on the J at best, don't believe he has a nicer K or K8 so I would push right back, maybe a raise to $150. Got to make it expensive for him to buy the next card.
ps - dont put him on a set, he could have an open-ender tho. Or putting money in the pot trying to draw his flush on the turn....got to make it too expensive for him to chase. If you flat call his raise then a heart on the turn, you gotta fold. Put the pressure on him now.
my two cents (and you can have them, coz its really worth nothing now we start with five cents').

Re: Question of the Day - 09/09/08
Depends on how the read is.
My thoughts are is he has raised your $20 to block the continuation bet. Therefore re raising will most likely get him to call if he has you beat. Two pairs or K with good kicker. It will mean he will fold most times
Calling is the best option, because if he has made it with air, or is calling on draw or weak pair, you can re evaluate the turn, and then put him to a harder decision.
Folding is out of the question i think at this point. Though i am looking at trying to outplay him first. He has only called the 3bb raise preflop, therefore if he is tight, it would be standard, but at the moment would be any two cards.

I'd be tempted to re-raise as well but I'd be worried about A K or JJ so I may opt to just flat call.
Actually... I'd find it hard not to jam it.

Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Answer:
Fold. Against a tricky reg, this hand is going to be very difficult out of position. Get out of the way now - the only hand you beat is a draw, and a good reg is capable of firing multiple barrels with even a draw. It is going to be very expensive to find out if you are good here.
