Question:

You're in the early stages of a multi-table tournament when you're dealt a big slick in the cutoff. The table has so far been characterized by loose play with plenty of players limping in to see the flop, and true to form, four players have called so far. What do you do?

Answer:

Raise 6x BB. This is a hand you'd like to win right here. There is enough money in the pot that taking it down pre-flop is a good idea. Your position lets you keep your raise on the lower-end of a big raise, as you can force out most of the limpers and still be last to act against any who really do want to play the hand.

Poll Results: Call (5%) Raise 3x BB (8%) Raise 6x BB (85%) Raise 10x BB (2%)

I left out the options to see what people would say.

* Game: Omaha Eight-or-Better
* Position: Button
* Type of Game: Loose
* Blinds: $2-$4
* Your hand: [kc] [5s] [5c] [ac]

Question:

It is a multi-way pot and the flop comes [3d] [5h] [6s]. The first player to act bets and the next player in line raises. The action is folded around. What should you do?

Fold Fold Fold.

Nah,

In that situation I would possibly call the flop and then be forced to fold on the turn when another scare card lands on the turn.

I'm not really drawing to anything and if the board pairs there are still a lot of hands that can beat me.

I think I would get away from that hand, if not there on the turn.

If its a loose game like the ones I play in, either the leading bettor or raiser is being a dick and betting out on their low hand. ;)

Probably not going to be in for the low pot here - A2, A4, 42 etc have that. Middle set on a low board ... unless the board pairs, I'd be pretty confident of being behind both pots. The rainbow flop, however, might make me see the turn.

Of course, depending what mood I am in, I might just pot it right back and see what happens :D

Board pairs - take the high pot
Board doesn't pair - A 2 4 J scoops the pot ;)

It's such a wet board.

You would be extremely lucky to win this one, either high or low.

A2 and A4 are very real considerations for this, and most loose PLO8 players are always smashing the pot hoping to hit the nut low.

Still I would take my chances at the board pairing and hoping my boat was floating safely on the river.

Its the type H/L hand that makes you lean back in your chair and yell,"FUUUUUUUU**" as you hover over the fold and raise buttons.

I still fold I reckon. I know I'm behind the high pot, and would have to get extremely lucky to take a quarter of the low pot.

It's the sort of hand I'll call early on in a tourney, though, to build a stack.
