No, no commision for me, I'm not even in Sales or anything so new signups etc. don't really effect me at all. As I said, Adam are a good ISP and most people are perfectly happy with them, but once you go the "node" you don't go back :D

As long as krunchie doesn't choose Bigpond the world will be a better place!

Mind you, if it's just web surfing and online poker you're using it for, an unlimited download cable connection would be a considerable waste.

just did a quick search of cable plans, and the one ill assume you are on is 25 gig a month which is 89.95 a month, or 10 bucks more if u don't have a telstra home phone.

ADSL2+ with internode you can get 55 gig for the same price, and 60 gig with adam for 99 a month.

so cable is in general not a good value for money decision in my opinion

This is easily answered.

For ADSL in good ol' SA:
#1 = Internode
#2 = Adam

If you don't use the home phone at all then I strongly recommend going 'naked'.

Forget the rest completely and ESPECIALLY don't sign up with Telstra. That is the single best way in the universe to get ripped off.

For anyone that has cable you are paying too much, fullstop. The only positive is that you can get the free to air channels with Foxtel (and you can cancel the home phone line completely if you so choose).
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Nicely summed up Pete!

Good point, if you don't use your home phone as you just use your mobile for phone calls then "naked" DSL is a good option. Even if you do use your home phone then you can still go naked with a VOIP service for phone calls (but that is another kettle of fish which may just add even more confusion). If you do want to get "naked" then you might want to wait a little while (not too long!) for your #1 ISP in SA to release a new range of Naked DSL options :)

For 5gig plans, Adam and Node are pretty much the same. I'm with Adam and their customer service is pretty damn good. I've been with them over 3 years and they've only every had one major outage when Telstra screwed up something.

If you wanna go up to 10gb and higher, then Adam is cheaper overall.

Definately go for a wireless modem/router... makes things hell of a lot easier. Then you don't have to design your room to fit in where your phone line is. You can put your computer wherever you like. And also if you get a laptop you can take it anywhere in the house.

I do get pretty consistant speeds with Adam as well.

Yep - I'm tech support for ADSL and also Wireless broadband.

Optus count uploads as part of your monthly quota (as do Telstra and some others) so that's a massive tick in the box they're not getting right away.

It's pretty fair to say the market they aim for is the average shmoe/family of shmoes with no idea or people who are too lazy to ask someone who knows what they're on about.

Great place to work at though.

I gave a very general 'forget the rest' becaue they all seem to have issues with differing things which makes them less good than Internode and Adam. Basically it doesn't matter why they're not as good.. they're just not as good.

Nope, $65 odd a month. Saving a bit as well by having a Voip phone and only paying $10 a month 'line rental'
Check out my ample flop....
