Re: Prize packs for 2009

HI GUYS

AS A TD I THINK THE FTT OR KEYRING IS A MUST FOR FINAL TABLE FINISHERS WE HAVE A CRAPPISH POKER GROUP THIS WAY AND THEY GIVE A CHIP GUARD FOR 1ST PLACE AND RELY ON THE VENUE TO SUPPLY PRIZES FOR ANYONE ELSE , PLAYERS LOVE IT WHEN THEY GET REWARDED FOR THEIR EFFORTS AT NPL AND ALL FEEDBACK I EVER GET BETWEEN NPL AND CRAP POKR GROUPS IN VICTORIA IS THE HEAPS BETTER PRIZES...

AS FOR THE TROPHIES I BELIEVE WE HAVE TO STICK WITH PLASTIC CHIP ONES AS EVERYONE NOW IS TRYING TO COLLECT THE SERIES OF THEM CANCELLING THEM NOW WOULD UPSET A LOT OF PLAYERS SO I BELIEVE WE HAVE TO KEEP THEM GOING ........BUT IN SAYING THIS WHEN THEY ARE FINISHED I THINK THAT THE GLASS TROPHIES WOULD BE GREAT TO GET BACK IN

I THINK THE CARD GUARDS ARE A GREAT IDEA BUT LAST NIGHT ON MYFINAL TABLE A PLAYER COMMENTED HE IS GONNA START SELLING HIS ACES AS HE HAS ABOUT 10 OF THEM AND WANTS TO GET THE REST OF THE SET ALSO SO COMEON SEND SOME KINGS QUEENS OR SOMETHING DIFFERENT ,I HEARD THE IDEA OF A BRACELET THAT WOULD BE GREAT CAUSE OF THE WSOP AFFILAITION TO BRACELET.

STUBBIE HOLDERS , METAL KEYRINGS ,MUGS ETC WOULD BE GREAT AS AN ALTERNATIVE PRIZE COMPARED TO THE DVD I ACTUALLY GIVE THE DVD TO THE FINAL TABLE BUBBLE AS ITS A POKER SCHOOL DVD AND ITS SAYS HELPING YOUR WAY TO FINAL TABLE (SO CLOSE YET SO FAR)

I THINK DIFFERENT PRIZES LIKE A BAD BEAT CARD CARD AND A ROYAL FLUSH CARD GUARD WOULD BE GREAT FOR THOSE REASONS LIKE HAVING QUADS BEAT BY A STRAIGHT FLUSH OR SOMETHING ALONG THOSE LINES BUT THEY SHOULD JUST BE GIVEN TO US SO IT DOESNT ACTUALLY HAVE TO BE HANDED OUT IF ONE DOESNT HAPPEN

THE MAIN PROBLEM NPL DOESNT HAVE AND BEFORE I CAME A TD I WON TWO VENUES BACK TO BACK AND DIDNT RECIEVE A PRIZE I THINK WE SHOULD BE PROMOTING THE VALUE OF CONSISTENCY AND THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO DO IT WINNER OF A VENUE SHOULD BE REWARDED AND NOT STICHED UP LIKE I WA FOR THOSE TWO SEASONS (BRETT KAY PROMISED ME A PRIZE AND IT NEVER CAME THROUGH WHEN I WON MY VENUE THE SECOND TIME DAMN YOU BRETT DAMN YOU LOL )

HOPE THIS HELPS AND I WILL LOOK FORWARD TO CRITISISM OR COMMENT REGARDING THIS ISSUE

THANX ,

If a shield is too expensive, why not a pennant style flag?

Cheap, easy, and probably very fitting for first at a venue.

PAUL, YOUR POST WOULD BE MUCH EASIER TO READ IF IT WASN'T IN UPPERCASE ;-)

I personally think a bit of variety every couple od seasons or so can really help out with the prize pack prizes. Its been well over 2 years with the keyring thing, and regardless of colour our NPL faithful regulars dont really care to be offered their 200th keyring. As long as the prizes can fall into a reasonable pricing amount, a little variety will go a long way.

I would also like to see the venue leaderboard winners receive some acknowledgment prize too. Even if its a trophy similar to the normal ones used in that season - either a different colour or size.

Did anyone else remember a proposed idea promo in a previous season where venue winners might get a different coloured State Game wrist band - and which ever person finished highest in the tournament with a venue winners wrist band got a bonus prize?

Redundant ideas at the moment:

Venue winner perpetual shield - Venues come and go, and some aren't guaranteed to continue for ten weeks of the season. An investment that is not worthwhile. Especially when we are talking 260 events approx. every season.

Points for placings and account building - Again not something that would be easily implemented and too much administration work.

This conversation is about nightly prizes, nothing more, nothing less. Nightly prizes are a tradition of NPL and will continue until the end of 2009.

This is a discussion on the contents of Prize Packs.

1.) FTT or something for all finalists will not be cancelled.
2.) A redemption of FTT will be used, whereas players gain entry into tournaments.
3.) Prizes will be awarded to 1st and 2nd at a minimum.
4.) New players love "knick knacks" but this is the misconception we wish to move away from, instead of knick knacks do we move to higher quality products and just issue prizes to 1st or 1st and 2nd.
5.) This is also a discussion on what these prizes could be.

And lastly, it helps if you read previous posts before posting a similar comment that has already been answered by me so I do not need to repeat these sentiments.

I agree, the venue leader should receive some sort of prize, when I first started NPL as a player they used to have a chip set at several venues for those who finished on top, the consistancy of this wasn't too good as I won a venue and was told I had won a chip set but never received it, If this is implemented it could increase player numbers and the amount of Passports handed in.

I think that once the plastic trophies have finished we should go back the glass trophies, I feel the glass trophy represents a more professional side to the company and the tournament itself.

Also, in reading what you just posted Garth, last night, not the first time this has happened, the person who finished 2nd, handed his prizes down to someone else, it would be great to have a product that knowone wishes to "throw away", a prize that everyone thrives on !

i think stubbie holders, beer glasses etc have to be the go, something that can be collected and that are not knick knacks

Agreed.

A prize that is great for a new person/once off winner/placegetter... but is good to collect in multiple.

Coasters and Stubby holders are the go. Maybe NPL pint glasses as well.

Instead of chip sets as such... maybe a row of poker chips in your colour of choice... then if you win more than once you can add to your collection?
