Ok, Chris Croce and Steve Clark....What the?
Are you guys teaching them? Are they getting lucky?
Matty, an average of 10 after 2 games?
Putty is doing well again I see.
Hope to see you guys at the regional final Mon night, there are 9 players coming from Lameroo as well.
Bring your AA games, I wanna see some good poker.
Also I'm gonna select some teams consisting of players from each town and they will be "representing" their town in a teams format (based on how well each player ranks in the tourny).
Should be fun.
C u there

Re: What's going on @ Waikerie?
Sounds good Toddy. Well i have thought that steve was always capable of good poker, and he is being much more aggressive lately which has helped him i think. Chris Croce was lucky i have heard to win his game (still the only player i have ever seen to play ten games and have a toatl of 100 points in a season).
As for me, i think i might start calling pre-flop all-ins of 5500 with JT off suit from now on, seems to work for everybody else (i had AK)

Re: What's going on @ Waikerie?
here is the low down as i see it at waikerie
Chris croce:- he is putty 2 seasons ago but even more random, and putty proved that you can win a tourney playing like that, chris is the ultimate calling station and hits a lot of draws, but as mackatack pointed out, in generall his style isnt very advantagous he just gets lucky from time to time.
Putty:- realy starting to concentrate on his game, has developed a style that is starting to work for him and is working at it, he is still a random thinker but leaves the random thoughts for the waikerie shed games or the odd hand during a tourney but not nearly as much as he used too. His main weapon is that everybody still underates him so he consitstantly grabs those big pots that can set up your night.
Steve:- Steve realy is a good player, the main problem was that he was too tight and we all knew it, so as soon as he bet every one folded and got no value, he is starting to open up his hands slightly and also his play alowing him into some large hands that can set up your night, it has taken a season for him to develop this change, i think he will be around the mark this season.
Matty mega tilt:- (please dont take this personallly mate) matt unfortunatley to me seems to have completley lost the game that made him the man in the first 2 or 3 seasons, his main weapon was consistancy, he never won but always got into the points.
he is desperate to get that back and is trying everying and so seems lost in the poker style wilderness, i think deep down putty doing well bothers him, but above all the main problem is the tilting, it is happening all the time now which is realy affecting his decisions.
Gundog:- greahme is playing solid poker, my belief is that he talks to much about his hands and decisons so that it is pretty easy to play when your on his table, most of us have played him a bit now and i think that is why he does better away from his home venue, still a dangerous player though.
Mackatack:- matt is currently going through the same hoodoo i did after winning a season then trying to back it up, in my opinion still the best player at our venue, but just not embrasing the variance (as garth would put it) it will come back matt. a bit more time in the waikerie shed games may help
Me:- Im finaly starting to get my game back, after winning season 2 then coming 6th in season 3 i like mackatack and matty have spent a season in the wilderness trying to define my game, dont know if i got a bit full of my self or what but i think i was playing thinking i was better than my oponnents, I also belive i put all my effort last season into my shed games where i was very sucsesfull and not enought thought into the tournaments earlier in the night. the last 5 weeks have seen 2 bubbles, a 10th a 3rd and 5th so i may finaly back into some form.
dont forget to keep an eye out for Rob waye and Ryan edwards as well,
rob is starting to find a game that works for him at the club, while ed's style is a lot more suited to cash games hense his great hit rate.
having the advantage of playing all these players often i have come to realise that every one is continuosly reviewing and developing the way they play, hence the swings in results, but what is intesting is that while a few are developing games that seem to work well in the NPL tourney they dont translate when there is actual coin invlolved.

Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

Good review.
I read that first, then scanned up expecting to see an actual review of the Waikerie venue. I was mistaken.
What is the Waikerie like as a venue?

And yes, I understand this wasn't meant to be a venue review. But having never been there, any information on prices/menu/specials/etc would be great

Here you are the venue has 1 of the best prize policy i have encounterd, 50/25/15 venue vouchers which venue allows you to spend with a lot of flexability, drink and meal prices are reasonable, stamping policy is very fair under 5 1 stamp, pint or echo 2, full mixed drink or meal 3.
Numbers at venue average 40,which is made up of 4 or 5 visiting players, there about a dozen locals who will play at other venues and a few hard core travelling players, the remaining players a majority are 1 venue players.
Krunchie rated a few of the beter players but the venue has a majority of players that play anything and everything with a hope and hit style of game relying on a lot of river cards to win (lotto players any 5 numbers will do) relying on alot of luck and very little skill, the better thinking players are sometimes the victims of of these players which the best example is last weeks first out was the previoud weeks winner.
42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot.

Re: What's going on @ Waikerie?
Here is a venue review for scott
Day:- Tuesdays
Venue:- The waikerie Club (1 street off the main street)
Time:- 7.30 start.
The Waikerie Club is a large venue with more than enough room for the 40-48 runners we get each week, could easily fit 200, not particularly anything inspiring interms of decor but it is a quiet venu good for poker with plenty of light, can get a little hot/cold depending on the season
Meals are cheapish averaging around the $12 mark and you will get 3 stamps, Unfortunaltey the quality of meals is suffering compared to the pub but they are still ok.
It will cost a around $11 to $14 dollars to get 1 card stamped up dependign on what you buy
I usually buy a double scotch and coke in a large glass costing $10.80 and get a full card stamped.
Beer specials are usually quite abundant, like ultra chills or teds for $4.60 etc
the venue is spacious quite and well staffed by freindly staff and in general a plesant place to play, I just wish it was just as plesant playing all the calling stations all the time
