Re: So excited about the Olympics
i know i am gonna get blasted by the women on the forum for this, but..
if all of the girls were ugly, would there be any point in watching womens sport?
is there any sport that is more interesting/exciting when the women play it rather than the men?
i am not trying to be sexist here, and i dont believe that women should not play sport or any thing else like that, its just that i find men's sport more interesting to watch, as it is generally a lot faster/stronger/etc etc

Not really sexist. I know a LOT of women who watch footy for the "male scenery" and therefore take an interest in the sport itself.
Same as watching women's sport. sure, you might find <insert name here> pretty, and watch because of it - but you then (usually) take an interest in the sport.

Re: So excited about the Olympics
We do have some interesting points regarding our society, its expectations for men and women and the way that sports men and especially women are portrayed in the media.
Its interesting to note that the outfits that the women wear in basketball (body suits) and beach volleyball (bikini's) are actually mandatory, and women are forced to wear these outfits despite the fact they dont like them.
But then again, there would be even less people watching the beach volleyball if the chicks were in t-shirts and trackies.

Riskers gamble, experts calculate.

Re: So excited about the Olympics
I think it boils down to the fact that something is either exciting to watch or it isn't. If it isn't and part of the reason is because women aren't as good as the men then so be it.
Womens tennis is probably a decent example, bores most people I know to tears.. but as soon as a hottie comes on.....

Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!
