Well I'm a two finger typist, obviously self taught LOL and so I was saying when I try to type fast and make a mistake (F...UP) it's a typo.

And a mis-spelt word is ??????

I would say my style is slightly retarded at the moment.

I have been playing too much Omaha and that goes into my holdem game. So i will be calling to see a lot of flops, and then continue betting with nearly almost anything.

I over value my mid pairs a lot. I also over value a lot of high cards and suited connectors.

However my game play is a little bit stylish. In that i will take risks to build a chip stack early on, calculated risks. Top pair vs Flush Draw Situations. And then when i have a big stack i will lose a few hands with rubbish just so that when i do get that premium i do clean up.

Best way i can describe is if i have lost some chips to a player, i have it in the back of my head that i will get them back because they are still my chips, i am loaning him in the hope that he can knock out or cripple a few of the mid stack opponents. If not the turbo structure also helps.

Brett.

bennymacca wrote:Just to show you i am really bored, and curious, and i thought it would be interesting to compare the NPL stats of different types of players. (yes i worked out the career stats of these people using my spreadsheet)

The playing styles range from myself at the aggressive end of the spectrum to bruce at the tight end of the spectrum. i consider all of these players to be "good" NPL players (except maybe myself :P). all players here have made state finals multiple times (i think bruce has made them all) YES 5 seasons = 5 SFinals got to be it to win it--the chip/and chair theory
all of these players play noticeably different styles, but remarkably the stats are pretty damn similar. the style i wasn't 100% sure of was bob, but the times i have played with him, he has been tight aggressive but also the capability to bluff.

the only other thing to note is that bob has played a lot at big venues, which is why his place and FT percentages are slightly lower, and bruce has played at the tanunda which is pretty much a given for points most weeks.

other than that, all players here have played in 40-60 runner fields on average.

any comments?

great thread....personal assesment leads to your games improving/development...

here is a something I have been thinking about lately....if you played against yourself and played on the same table i,e played each hand on the table exactly as you normally do..

what mistakes errors do you make or would occur to beat yourself ,which cards /hands plays create losing hands for you,

ie what is your biggest weakness ,,,know it correct it and your game has to improve.

could you beat yourself ??

First of all:
Brett, it is awesome to see you back and posting in the forums again.
You probably have not even stopped posting but it has been ages since I have seen something from you. I always enjoy reading what you have to say!

To answer this forum topic:
Lately I have disgusted myself with the type of play I have started to do, calling with Ace high etc.
But I am getting back to playing quality hands, (which was in a word document sent to me by BigPete... It is an awesome guide)

I have quit chasing (or rather paying to chase) and have certainly quit trying to play a looser more agressive game, (I fail miserably at that.. lol).
I play mostly high picture cards, I try to fold JJ... but am so damn weak I end up playing the damn things, but only if I go all in with them.. lol

Since going back to my original type of play my game has once again improved. But I still go back to my bad habits.

Ohhh and I never bluff, every single time I do, I get called and end up being absolutely humiliated... LOL

This is an awesome topic!
It is great to see what others have to say in regards to this.

lol i definitely think this as well.

firstly, that is a great achievement bruce, well done

bruceklm wrote:ie what is your biggest weakness ,,,know it correct it and your game has to improve.

great post bruce (lol i could understand what you were getting at).

this is exactly why i started this thread. my big weakness is overplaying cards when i have raised and then missed the flop - i.e being too aggressive. sometimes by raising preflop and then c-betting with my Ace King, i am actually pot committing myself on the turn, and so i am in big trouble if they catch any piece of the bard and call me down.

i am working on still playing aggressively, but playing a lot tighter when i have actually missed the board - even if that means check-raising instead of leading out in early position as i tend to do a lot. this means that i sometimes miss out on information i could get from them by checking.

bruceklm wrote:what mistakes errors do you make or would occur to beat yourself ,which cards /hands plays create losing hands for you,

if i played myself, i would play pretty tight, and if i picked up a monster i would slow play it to the death, as i know that i would try and make a steal at some point in the pot LOL

To be honest, i do play tight and i can be very aggressive. i like to play my poss and push "so called weak players" around. 1st thing i do at the start of the night is a pick a table where i know there is going to be a few lossers players, so i can get easy money off them and get best value for my hands.
What do you mean, thats unrelated!
