dug, "always look on the bright side of life"

NPL has been awesome - introduced me to a lot of new friends, gives me the opportunity to improve my poker, and have a few laughs, which is the most important thing

and yes, it has made be drink a bit more :D

Hi ya Sean..
Awesome thread.

Well as you know I make no secret of the fact I owe A LOT to NPL and to poker in general.

I have never made secret of the fact I am nuts and was pretty much housebound for 7 years, never going anywhere, meeting anyone or doing anything.

Through NPL, I have started to make friends, go out again and more importantly... LAUGH!!! Some nights I have had tears streaming down my face from laughing so much and lets be honest Sean, most of those nights have involved nights when your TD.

As for Poker, I owe it tonnes!
Am I the only one that sits back and watches how people around them deal with playing?

Myself for example, have a stubborn streak.. and have learned that there is so many times I allow that personality trait to ruin my game, how often do we do that in real life?
I have learned that going like a bull at a gate might give some rewards, but they are fleeting most times.
For the last bit of "telling too much" I have learned that not all my decisions are bad ones. Sometimes I make mistakes but they are for the most part easy to recover from and fix.

So having said that, I was one of the people Sean was talking to and have no problems thanking NPL for giving me so much.

Hi my names big tim,

I love poker and i love NPL, it has taught me so much about myself, and i have made so many poker friends.
I love it so much that instead of leaving my kid at home by himself i take him with me and leave him in the car, considering he is only 8 months old. Man i would've been such a bad father if i had left him home by himself, now i can check on him between breaks.
I dont feed him much as all his milk money goes on poker passports but thats ok i make up for it when i win tournaments, i usually get him some take away porter house or schnitzel with gravy, thats his favourite.

Any way thats what NPL has done for me, and i think i'm a better person for it.

Thanks for listening
BIG TIM

Can we get Dug banned? Like, seriously. Can we ban someone? Or at least give him a warning?

Have to say that the best thing that I've got out of the NPL is meeting a ton people, even if I am bad with names and still call them 'you' or 'mate'. But in particular, running into Dave at the Modbury on one fateful night which, over a period of time, has susequently led to two more of the Murrin Brothers (one of whom I used to go to school with) and several home games in betwen. Can't argue with meeting new and old mates.

Oh... and a much larger keg.
Will dance for your chips!

Haha, thanks for the mention Ondie :)

I was actually going to mention that also. Heading to the Modbury for the first night I played (second week of season one maybe?) I saw you and thought "Hmmm, isn't that Andre, who went to primary school with Scott?". I wasn't 100% but then I saw your mother and recognised her too.

So yeah, meeting new people has been great with the NPL. I have met a small handful of mates who I would gladly catch up with (and have done) outside of poker who I hope to continue to be mates of for a long time. Meeting Ondie (again, sorta) and his family (I'll include Ali in that).. as well as Pete has been great.

And many other people I've come to know as well - too many to name. I've ventured to a few home games (for skittles) at a lot of places. Several staff members have been great also, I've come to know a lot of them closely which is fantastic.

It took me a fair while to get Scott to come out and play "pub poker" but he seems to be enjoying it too. And that's one of the good things, being able to go out with my brothers and have a good time, a few drinks, a laugh, and donate chips to them. That's probably the best part.

looks like steve_g is the only one with the same sense of humour.

I mean no offense to anyone, i'm just trying to make a joke out of such a corny thread.

Seriously people lighten up.
