We felt that this was the only way to give [Lost] a proper creative conclusion," McPherson said. Beginning with the 2007–2008 television season, the final 48 episodes of Lost would have been aired as three seasons with 16 episodes each, with Lost concluding in its sixth season.

I still don't mind watching it (whatever season it is at the moment) but the constant flash backs and ever changing story lines are more annoying and painful then sliding down a razorblade using your crutch, into a pool of vinegar. In the first season the flash backs were relevant but now they just seem pointless and episode lengthening. Does anyone else agree with this?
I'm not "bagging" Lost I'm just saying that it could have been a short, sharp and sweet series of two, possibly three seasons instead of this evergoing flashback/sidetwist/untwist/retwist of events that it currently is. A bit similar to the show "Prison Break" which I belive should also have been kept to two series.
And on a side not the actual real life location of Lost (although filmed in Hawaii) is meant to be set on an island whose location is the basing of the 'numbers' in the show. You know the one's that they had to type in the computer over and over again. They are the gps coordinates (or something similar) to an un-inhabited island somewhere in the Pacific Ocean (i think that's were it is supposed to be). I doubt the actual island is anything as annoying as the constant sub-plots built into side-plots of the main plot of Lost.
Enough about Lost. There's not even any poker in it anyway.
Can I just say, this post is pretty good. Yeah I'll agree that Lost's 2nd season was pretty deplorable, but Season 3 was awesome. And oh, Dan, they're flashforwards

Yes, Prison Break went on for too long. I stopped watching early into the 3rd season.
