Hi Bob,
I have made my comments and stated what I think, whatever your intentions just be careful how things may be construed.
I too myself have been caught in this trap, it is hard to portray tone in text. And when I have I have also apologised for any misconceptions.
And I agree with Shannon, although staff are very protective of each other there is no need for staff to jump on and add their comments, especially if they are the same as what has been stated by the OM, it does become a little bit of player bashing.
Bob your a great bloke, you're a very vocal contributor and as we have both stated before, we have genuine respect for each other and we do need to pull each other up on occasion.

Annabelle's a smaller, reserved female. Can I see her yelling across the room to the TD's? No, but that doesn't mean she's not going to. I did assume you were just saying out loud what a few people were thinking, so to say, and as soon as I read your explanation post, it all clicked.
Thanks AK, Shannon, you and quite a few guys and gals at the Gardens seen the funny side of my post the same way as you did and as it was intended.
I really didn't think I would be here defending what was always meant to be my imagination of Annabelle doing what Garth does so well on the day as it was a state final related topic.

I guess my missus is right in saying I have a somewhat warped sense of humour and some people can and do take my comments out of text.
So Des, for your benefit I assume you haven't seen it as yet! And maybe in time you might just get to like me a little more and understand my humour a little better.
In regards to the Tim related post. I have known Tim for quite some time now and I was surprised that he actually applied for the position. For what it's worth and I hope Tim doesn't mind me saying, I actually had a chat with him and attempted to talk him out of applying for the position in question.
I asked him why? Why, would you want to take on Garths job are you stupid? We spoke of him having a young family and a business and how he enjoys doing the NPL venues etc. And how what he does now fits within his time frame to enjoy his growing family and make a living from something he enjoys doing.
Compare what you have now, with what you are applying for! I said, after reading what Garth implies regarding the megga hours he puts into the job. The phone calls at all hours of the day. The text messages, the having to read all the forum threads and posts and replying to them alone is a major task.
Plus, the ongoing building of the NPL Empire, managerial reports, maintaining and recruiting staff, retaining and finding new venues, organising new events etc, etc, etc. The list just goes on and on and on. Knowing all of the above and more, he was still prepared to make the commitment.
So yes, I was a little disappointed that he missed out but I was also glad that he didn't get the position. Mainly for his families sake and I suppose in a selfish way I like Tim the way his now, not how he may have been had he won the position.
And for those who queeried my abilities to know what is required and the commitments that one has to make by putting the job ahead of family!!!!! Iv'e been there done that so I do have personal knowledge of upper managerial commitments.
I too was a Garth type character in my working career and I did put my work first and family second until the penny dropped.
And for Annabelle. I'm sure Garth and whoever else was involved had picked you on your abilities not your size or stature or poker knowledge. I'm sure you have all the right credentials and a sense of humour and will in time understand mine.
Please believe me when I say there was never any intension to belittle you in my comment regarding Tim being overlooked as you were obviously an outstanding choice over all who had applied for the position.
I suppose we all assumed that someone within the group who were poker savvy would win the position. That as we know now was not so and I wish you all the best with your new venture. I'm sure in time you will also be a great poker player like most of our NPL ladies.
To my friends who know me, thank you for your PM's and support. To Garth I choose to shake your hand each time we say hello out of respect for your position and commitment towards your job. No more no less.
Cheers all, and don't let the felt burn you when your raking in my chips

If you are serious and I assume you are, it's the second post (mine)on the second page.
You need to relate the post to the thread being that of the State Finals and Annabelle doing a Garth like impersonation.
I suppose it depends on ones sense of humour to understand mine, which I'm sure you have Muzz

I'm not quite sure why you would attempt to talk someone out of doing something like that? Tim's a grown man and had obviously thought it through..
*shrug*
The best posts you every write, Bob, are the ones where you defend yourself. You write clearly and logical, using tact.
The posts that you are defending, lack tact.
Things like you saying "you were a little disappointed that Tim missed out" in a reply to a post when you said "How you were overlooked astounds me."
I find those two statements a LOT different. Maybe you meant the same thing in your mind, but it comes across as an incredibly thinly veiled dig.

"David wrote" I'm not quite sure why you would attempt to talk someone out of doing something like that? Tim's a grown man and had obviously thought it through..
Well David I'm not privvy to your current or past experiences in the world of management so I'll attempt to explain my reasons.
As I said in my post that you must have missed. I had known Tim for quite a while and unless you have put all before your family and friends then it will be very hard for one to understand.
I was concerned as a friend that Tim may have looked at the position through "rose coloured glasses" and I wanted to make sure he knew what he and his young family would be committed to if he were to be Garths successor.

LOL you just did what your accusing me of!!!!! But I must agree with you as one becomes more protective of our second comment when the first is being questioned, don't you agree?????

Yes, I was disappointed that he missed out. Because even though I pointed out all of the pit falls, time away from his family and giving up his business and his NPL TD status and income he still wanted to have a go because he felt he could do the job.
And yes, after he weighed up all of the above consequences and believing in himself to have had what was needed it did astound me and may I say many, many, other people who know Tim that he didn't get the job.
I don't think I'm Robinson Caruso (the island bloke)
Once again I say well done Annabelle as she obviously was or is the best person for the position in question. And once again let me say it loud and clear ......... I will support and respect Annabelle the same way I have done for Garth. I am in no way attempting to embarrass or undermine her in any way or form.
If I have offended her in any way or form I will deal with that personally not here on the forum, however I do apologise if that were so.
So David. I'm not having a cheap shot at you in my reply post I just hope you have a clearer picture of my concerns towards Tim and that you also have a friend that cares about you and yours.
And Tim ........... it's "BOB B" when you call the next lot of flight passports M8.

That's it?????????
Out of all of the above that's all you could find?????????
You use the word "tact" as if I were scheming to get a negative response to a post and then again in my defence post???
I give up and put it in the too damned hard basket M8. Don't know why I even bothered to explain.
If you happen to be at the Kingy tonite I'll buy the first drink and we can have a chat.
