Well, I went tonight. Had fun - sort of

Bought a $13 chicken parmi - great price, but wow, it didn't taste too crash hot. One of the worst I've had, it was like those kinds you buy from Coles. My friends seemed to like it though, so maybe it was just me.
The poker tables were awesome, just like the kind at states, with the deep cup holders - love that. And the stamp system was nice and fair (4 for a meal, 2 for a soft drink/alcoholic beverage). Staff were nice and welcoming, too.
Now... the players
Nah the players were alright, good friendly bunch. We did have a few serious players on our table though, that seemed to criticise a few decisions of one player (he was calling everything). They seemed a bit up themselves - but they were ok. I knocked one out later on in the night and he was respectful about the whole thing, he shook my hand and said good game.
I didn't play a hand until the final hand before the first break, and won a small pot. I played tight throughout the second break, only calling an all in on JJ, and holding against A8.
Coming back from the 2nd break I had 7500, I was 2nd in chips on our table - 1st had about 13k. Anyway, maybe 7 hands in, I'm in the BB for 1000. There are 2 limpers, shortstack and the table chip leader. About 63 players (from 116) left.
I look down at pocket 2s. I consider raising, but I know that the chip leader is calling my raise (he'd been calling everything that night). I check.
Flop: 7c 9c 2s. Awesome! I check. Shortstack bets 2000, chip leader calls, I go over the top. Short stack looks defeated but calls for another 1k, while the chip leader calls my all in for about half his stack.
Short stack: 8d 9c. Top pair, with 3 cards to the flush.
Chip leader: Qc 6c, flush draw.
Turn: CLUB.
River: CLUB.
So even 8 9 smashed me. Not really a bad beat, I guess with such a large field you have to make those kind of calls (flush draw) but it really annoyed me to see my excellent play through the night go to waste in one hand. But that's poker

All in all it was a great night, I really enjoyed playing in a large field. I'll probably come back next week.
