My first game of the season on Wednesday at the Willaston Hotel. Lost heavily on pocket jacks and those (lovely) pocket 9's - cashed in my first passport early.
A couple of dips at the pot and some blinds later, I find myself last hand before the break and chasing a straight. Someone goes all in and I'm faced with a decision - this is last hand before the break. If I call the all in and lose, I'll only get 1k for my second card. If I fold (sacrificing my call bet and draw bet) I can get 2k after the break.
AAAArgh! I don't want to let it go!
I go with my personal poker motto: "NO GUTS NO GLORY"
Of course I call and lose. This is the type of dilemma players will face a few times thru the new season, and validates AK's post. Players will play a bit smarter (most will anyway!) if there is a chance to get that extra 1k.
For what it's worth, with the 1k I got after the break, I still made final table and finished 3rd! FIGJAM!
