I highlighted in red "In either case, I couldn't agree with it" then why do you agree with having someone who lost and was out of the game back in???

Bob, thanks for your reply.
You have misunderstood me regarding the chip ups. I said I couldn't agree with it if it meant EVERYONE at the table under 2k got chipped up (without passports) - not just someone whose name was called out at the break. The way your post read, it seemed it was to be a charity chip up! My bad.

I don't have a problem with the odd chip up to 2k if a player is still in and gets their name called out in the lucky dip at the second break or gets called back in. It is adds a little unpredictability, and given the blinds structure after the second break, will make little difference (though we've all seen a time when a player called back in has gone on and won!)

That's okay Stud. I thought you misunderstood my meaning so I rewrote it a little bit clearer. Hey, I'd hate to think the whole table would get chipped up LOL we'd be there all night.

However, I must say the way they did the chip up after the first break at the Gardens was bordering on stupidity. I usually leave both cards (assuming I haven't used any) under my green chips to be changed to help the TD when chip changing. :?

Last night they chipped up the first card and left the second card with the $2k value until everyone was seated. Then they proceeded to take that card and chip us up again which made it hard on the TD and TA. They had to check everyones card again to make sure it was their second before they payed out the $2k. :?

Bearing in mind there were 121 runners and big arses like mine taking up room between the 12 or more tables and chairs seemed to waste more time. Then there was the endless bad beat callouts as there were only a few who were knocked out of a 121 field and a possible 242 cards in the pot.

Then there were two more names for the 300 chip poker sets that were given away. Thank god the second break had two names called and both were back into the tourney. And another 2 names for the chip sets. 8-)

The two other sets went to the first player out!!!! :o Seems very strange rewarding someone who didn't have any flight cards, doesn't it???? And the last one went to the winner which was more appropriate. :D

Catch you later M8

played my first game last night under the new card system and i must say to be competitive in a game u cannot just play free poker, its important to get the extra 3k

good move by NPL, its the perfect way to ensure more people fill out both cards and spend more money at the venue

Made my first points finish under the new blinds system tonight (4th from 55. For anyone not aware, the B&G region is trialling the new blind structure this season, while everyone else has to wait until season 4). Anyone with the proper blinds/times feel free to edit my post.

New blinds:

25/50 15 mins
50/100 15 mins
100/200 15 mins
BREAK
200/400
300/600
New 400/800
BREAK
500/1000
1000/2000
2000/4000
3000/6000
5000/10,000
10,000/20,000
20,000/40,000
30,000/60,000

I'm not sure how long the blinds are after the first break, but I know the blinds before the first break have been shortened from 20 minutes to 15. It doesn't look like much, but the extra level before the break actually makes a huge difference. There's less 'all ins,' (mainly because of the 2k card) and because you need to pay 200 to see your cards, players are (generally) playing better cards.

Basically, it makes for better poker. And trust me, coming back to 200/400 blinds after the first break, you're going to need that 2k. I still prefer the old system (this one will take a bit of getting used to) but this new system is promoting better play, which is definitely awesome.

Oh, and a side note.

Des can't deal at all :P

I now hate pocket 9s.

I had pocket 9s on the bad beat table Thurs night, all in, vs AK.

Flop: K x x, x, x.

Tonight, benny the cunt has pocket 9s, pushes all in for 3 from UTG. Fold, fold. I raise over the top for 6k with AK, everyone folds.

Flop: K x x, x, 9.

Also tonight, 4 left. I'm all in on pocket 9s for 14k. Guy next to me all in for 27k, and there's a caller.

Guy next to me: AK.
Caller: 34.

Flop: A K x, x, x.

You can deal Des, but not very well :P

i think the new blind structure is awesome (biased again as i got to 7th when i was short stacked all night)

once again last night, i won a few, lost a few in the first few levels, to have 3400 at the break.

from this point on, i think i won 1 pot until the 400-800 level, and i only have 3K left.

this level allowed me to wait for some decent cards when i was short stacked. i picked up pocket 9s and pushed - and got lucky against aarons AK which hit a K, but hey, thats poker.

but the extra level just allowed those few extra hands before i had to gamble - always a good thing.

there is nothing worse than having a good stack whittled down to 3 or 4K by someone getting lucky on the river, only to be smacked with a 1K BB next hand because the blinds go up. the new level just means there is a little more time before this happens :P
