Think there are a few other stories out there about poker chips. There are some pretty valuable ones. But same with anything. The only reason it has a price is only because someone wants to pay for it.

Would be interesting to see how some of the old school chips would go for.

The Showboat Casino was open from 1954-2001. That $1 Showboat chip is from 1955 as is 1 of only 2 uncancelled examples known to exist & the most sought after $1 by collectors.

If my memory serves me correctly the highest price ever recorded for a casino chip was for a 1953 $5 chip from the early days of the Sands Casino......a private sale for just over US$100,000!!!

BTW, the guy who purchased the Showboat $1 recently spent over US$35K on another extremely rare $5 chip!! You're right, way too much money in Vegas.

There are many more that have sold in the US$30K to US$90K range as well.

So why not give granny & grandad a call & see if they brought back any souveniers from Vegas in the 50's.
