Garth, can you please clarify the limit of the number of players for this tournament, and if there is still a possibility that it may be changed.

I haven't had a chance to really read all of this yet. So in answer to your questions Gail,
It looks like we will be moving out to 400, anyone who has booked accommodation anywhere or who has already notified me of their intent to play will be allowed to play.
At an educated guess I would say that we currently have 250-300 players booked in or that have advised me that they are playing.

I will be extremely busy over the next month so I won't be on the forum as often as I would like, so if you do need to contact me, please do so via email: garth@npl.com.au

Sorry about this guys but I do have other pressing matters at this time.

Cougar.... It is Cougar right?
I would hate to get it confused. :|

I want one thing cleared up. I do not back peddle with my remarks about this thread being rubbish, nor do I back peddle when I say it is nothing but a negative thread that does nothing but cause a stir.

BUT.....
From the way you have worded your above paragraphs I want it cleared up that in NO WAY whatsoever have I ever sent you any personal email, or corresponded with you in any way shape or form except with what I have put in the forum for all to read.

NOR....
Will I accept responsibility for you receiving 'not very nice mail' from those that choose to write to you.

So feel free to Thank me for pointing out what I have pointed out, but rest assured I am not someone that accepts crap heaped on them for no reason whatsoever.....

It is my considered opinion the we should all ignore this thread totally.

this will be the last time I visit this tread as it is totally counterproductive to a terrific event.

Cougar have you registered for the event?, I fear you have not and all your intent is to be a picky little *%#&@, generating nothing but negatitives.

So I will put this in simple words Pi$$ OFF

Cougar you can reply to this if you see fit but I will not be reading it

Please take as little or as much offense to this post as you choose.

Cougar - As everyone is entitled to their own opinion, from this moment on i intend to ignore your posts unless i find that they are directly related to any CBD events or CBD staff. I find it remarkable that you still contribute to the forum even after you requested all your posts be removed. You seem to attack almost everything we aim to do debating many topics like you are 90% of our client/customer base.

Everyone else - No matter what, The Berri Event is going to be a sensation. It would be a dream event to play let alone win. The efforts and motives behind running such an event are all in ernest as the NPL take pride in being the BEST DAMN LEAGUE in this country.

Cougar,

There has been an overwhelming amount of support for what we are trying to achieve. The spanner you have thrown into the works is nothing. You personally may think we are a money hungry evil empire conspiring to brain wash our members out of their weekly pay but simply, we are not.

I personally (i hope) will be running the Berri Event. I wish everyone could come but this is not a perfect world.

The Hotel only has X amount of room.
The hotel only has X amount of seats.
The NPL can only provide X amount of staff.
The Hotel does need to return on this investment.

The NPL will do the best we can to ensure the largest possible field plays and as many members as possible be apart of the experience.

Maybe I have tunnel vision because I am not a customer. Maybe I see things differently because I look to make things work rather then destroy them. Either, either..... if the out come of this event execution is altered in any way by your malicious comments, Shame on you.

Regards

Nathan Butler

Nicely put Nathan.
I'm sure there are many punters such as myself who can't wait for the end of June to come so they can get away and have some fun playing a big stack.

Nathan Butler wrote:Paul,

Let me ask you this question; What is the value of X?

Can you answer?

You cannot answer because is undetermined. You want the NPL to put a dollar value on the costs involved for the this event, why do we need to put a value on it? Why don't you?

Work out what you would like to or are capable of spending then work out if you would like to play.

X is what ever you willing willing to pay for accommodation.
X is what ever you are willing to spend at any venue.
X is the staff we require for this event.
X is what the venue wants out this.

The reason all these indicators are flagged as X is due to the fact that running the first event of this nature comes with a learning curve. If we were to run such an event again, the system of doing so would be far more precise.

There were one of two Xs that were able to be stated,

X = 300, the amount of players we initially we thought would work. that number has returned to X due to the support

X = the amount of available rooms at the Berri, So X=0
Being that X=0 in this case we have opened up other opportunities at over locations to cater for the over load of support.

The only conditition thus far was that players that had a room would get prefernce.

You seem to think you are the elected mayor of NPL town, who are these people you speak for and when did they elect you?

Around 80% of what you post is not constructive. The things that are like your suggested golf game etc, well that is great but the NPL are not coming up there to run a carnival. We are going up there because the great Berri Resort wanted to give something to our members.

You don't really ask the tough questions, you ask the easy ones that usually have tough answers. The answers you seek are dependent on our members feedback. Can't you understand that the NPL have two types of customers, You the player and the venues you play in. It is a tough line to walk and we do all that we can and always in the interest of our customers both venues and players.

Nathan Butler

Well said Nathan and to the point.

Unfortunately you left out one "X" M8, and that is how many punters have actually contacted Garth to register their interest in going to Berri.

I know of one room having 4 people in it and if there are at least 2 per room then I'd say we are getting close to the close off point.

I'm not completely certain but if the first person in question (Paul) still hasn't bothered to contact Garth then he may be unable to play "because there's no more seats available" LOL.

Wouldn't that be ironic.

I'm going to politely suggest you all worry about yourselves and if you're going and how awesome it's going to be (and it WILL be awesome) instead of worrying about other individuals who at this point in time aren't even going.

So... as far as well all know, the venue itself is booked out (this is great for the venue). From what I hear they are directing all booking enquiries to the golf club.

It seems there are still seats available for the tourney, if anyone is worried they should email Garth directly (garth@npl.com.au). I'd bet a few skittles he has the appropriate reply on his clipboard ready to copy/paste :) It's fairly clear the response has been huge and that's why the goal posts are having to be shifted slightly.

I can't wait for this tourney, going to be so much fun!

EDIT BY DES: As per the post by Garth here any new applications for seat are put on hold. So I'd suggest emailing Garth at the above address for any enquiries.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!
