I hate people that don't wash their hands after going to the toilet, its f*cking disgusting.

Re: NPL needs an overhaul
I'd like to thank everyone adding there veiws on this topic. This thead is becoming a great tool of information we can use to talk over with other staff and operations to create a better product for all wishing to be apart of NPL.
Going back to dougs first post:
I find that when a people come into a good venue, good stamp policy, they continue to purchase over the bar, as away of supporting the pub/club that is providing a local game of poker for free. I use the word free, because there are still lots of players that either never buy over the bar, or simply challenge themselves by using no cards. A bad beat table provides a 1-8 or 1/10 chance of re-entering the tournament also. I have been working with NPL 2nd week into the product coming into SA. I have seen so many players developing many player relationships and friends have been made.
So often you walk into your local venue, and chances are you can name more then half the field because you have had the chance to sit down and talk with them at the tables, or during the breaks. What NPL will add to that experince is the entertainment, which is playing poker, and having few laughs while are friendly staff provide jokes and information.
So NPL are providing the free poker, and the fun.
Going into the starting stacks, $1000 is equal to calling to see the flop in our opening 20min blind level 20 times. i agreed it's not that much, and that changes when a preflop raise is made. but you are not going to get 20 good drawing hands in a row nor are you going to see 20 hands in the first blind level. When playing poker though, don't you play tighter when you are alittle short, and open your game up when you have a little extra to play with? it's always ones choice to play the 2 cards they have been dealt.
I must say i agree 100% with the blinds. I think the NPL product could benefit by adding 5 mins the the blind after the break (100/200 only), but i then think the rest should be left alone, only becuase of the time restants on NPL to complete the game.
I love to add more but, i need to get ready for work.
please run spell check on me if needed
players you are feedback on our product. Feedback leads to changes to better the product. All our staff extend our thanks for adding to this thead and ask everyone to become involed with this thead

Re: NPL needs an overhaul
We all know NPL has a friendly, entertaining environment but you can get that at your local bingo night, or RSL.
The middle section is when blinds should be relaxed true.
Grant your comments on $1000 chips and 20 x blind. Of course its your choice whether to play 2 cards. But what happens when the blinds are 50/100 and you have AK. You raise to 400. 600 left. Flop is 247, continuation bet all in as there was at least 1 caller and the pot is 600. i caller has AJ hits a jack or something on the river and your night is over. You've played that hand pretty well but as it happens you lose. Therefore like i said before, it doesnt encourage good poker because then why raise?? why continue bet?? Why try and use poker skill to win. When all you can do is either check or call. That is why people stamp up cards, to at least have enough chips to be able to play poker. Now to many this may seem stupid as they seem to think everyone should check down to river and best hand wins, but to most i think it makes sense.
Hopefully we can get an extra 500 and 5 mins.

Re: NPL needs an overhaul
You say raise to 400 (from 100) as though it's a requirement for any position.
Also, of course you're going to raise! if somebody calls you they SHOULD have a reasonable hand! Be thankful if they do
Much better than seeing someone holding 2 7 and calling for a laugh cos it's cheap and they get lucky.
If you then happen to lose, take a deep breath and remind yourself that it's poker and you can't win every hand even though you were in front.

Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Bob, I'll just quote you on the above paragraph as your posts are so long it would take two pages to quote all the relevent paragraphs.
Have you ever considered where your money comes from or where it has been. Think about it.....all that change you handle everyday......

big pete, i suggest you look up some poker strategy about raising.
4x big blind especially when its 100 blind is a good raise.
Why min raise when its just going to cost another 100.

Re: NPL needs an overhaul
Last night at the woolshed, i had Kd Kc and raised all in with my $1000 chips in the small blind dug. 2 callers As Ac and Qd Qh call me down, and got the rest out. all limped in but the dealer who dealt this mess
.
Flop was Ah Kh Jh
turn was a 10h
River was a 10c
I made a move without cards stamped and went out of the game. I thought it was very very bad luck. Either style of play had me losing all my chips.
Getting back to the stamp cards, your always going to reward players that are going to support the venue. hence we provide $1000 chips add on/rebuy to any players wishing to use there cards. We do also run bad beat tables that provide that 1-8 or 1-10 chance of returning into the game with $1500. Venues without numbers able to support the bad beat tables often run a side game for fun, where the venue or staff member might put alittle something on for the winner. giving players the chance to stick around and play with mates.
I'am at work right now and rego is about to start so ill leave it there and add more at a later date. I hope everyone is enjoying there poker with NPL, and if not help us here on this forum, to find were else NPL might need to look into.
No matter how NPL develops or changes, someone will always never be quite happy with everything. Hopefully for them we can adopt something in between.

Without being rude, I think you should re-read what I wrote and show me where I said anything about a minimum raise.

Re: NPL needs an overhaul
just an example about min raise. big pete
Grant how often does that cold deck eventuate, pretty slim odds.
I think my example occurs a lot more.
No one aims for the bad beat, its just there for a back up.
If you are an advocate of 1000 chips by all means. But you gave too extreme an example.
And one that has backed my previous posts of going all in and trying to double up because you only have 1000 chips.
