Barossa/Gawler Regional Finals

Postby Renee » Sun May 04, 2008 11:24 am

:? So, just a question to those in charge of making the date for the regional finals this season, Why have the final on Saturday June 7th 1:30pm the June long weekend?????

Just seems a bit weird this would be the date considering how many people would be away, working during the day or have sporting commitments!

Surely there could have been another day possible to have it??

And i know Matty that its outta your control and you've prob had a number of people screaming at u already in regards to this, thats why i am asking others!!

Hi guys and girls

The're are alot factors that have to be taken into account when deciding a venue and date for regional finals.

Regional finals have to be run the week before state finals, unlike last season where we ran regionals on the same weekend which caused a massive workload for staff and may have placed on overload on players who qualified for both regional and state finals.

As for the day and start time, the factors that are involved here are:
Causing the least amount of damage to weekly games running in region already. eg kingsford now runs friday nights and the Sir John Franklin runs sunday afternoon.
The avaliability of venue that is hosting the game, such as other functions that may be on as well and regualr business as well.
What impact other commitments that players may have.

Sporting commitments are always a huge concern but we had been advised that the main sporting leagues in the region are not playing games on saturday 7th June.

hope this helps clear things up, any other questains please feel free to ask.

cheers
matty

No matter when you hold regionals there's always going to be someone that's not going to be able to make it.

Saying that, it depends on how many people it affects, but if it was enough, it'd be nice to see NPL change it. I doubt that'd happen, but it'd be nice.

is there any reason why it couldnt be a later start like last time the regionals were on or was it too late a start last time and that is why its been made earlier?

Renee,
You are better off directing your questions and requests to Darren and/or Matty. They are the operators for that region and have more knowledge of what is going on than I do.

It is their responsibility to organize regional finals.
