Not one win with pockets ;(

Postby andy_thomas » Wed Nov 28, 2007 9:20 am

Last night at the Palais, I counted 7 (seven) times that I had pockets and I DID NOT WIN ONE OF THEM!

The lowest I had was pocket 6s, and lets face it, they always win! (well, at least they did 2 hands earlier when I had AJ suited and they hit trips on the flop)

The closest I got to winning was with pocket Ks, even then it was a split pot when a donkey went all in with K10, flop came 10 Q J, with 9 coming on the turn.

My pocket 10s lost twice, once to Pocket Qs and then again to Q10 with a queen on the flop or turn.

Folded my pocket 8s after the flop came out A K J and someone bet big.

I've never been shitty/pissed off after getting knocked out, but last night was definitely it. I think I only won one hand (can't remember what it was) and then bluffed 2 other hands, other than that, I lost everytime, absolutely shattered!

Exchanged a few comments with Des, but didn't introduce myself as I was in too much of a shitty mood

All in all though, the Palais is a top venue! only took 17 minutes to get there from Salisbury :D

sounds like my night at Studio 89. After 10 minutes i had a splitting headache and the amount of calling stations was insane. Oh well.
Palais this Tuesday will be my next game.

I had a night like that last night too but I would have loved to have had pockets. I only had 3 hands all night. 2 of them I had 2 pair (Aces and Queens + 10's and 8's) and both times some-one else hit trips. The only hand I actually won was I flopped a straight and went all-in. I still had a caller who had 2 pair on the flop and still in it looking for a full house.

I think I sat at the wrong table at the start of the night because nearly every player at the table was in 90% of the hands and would call everything. Good sized pots but if you can't bluff them out then you need the cards.

I went out with my best pocket cards of the night AK. I hit a king high flush on the river but as my luck had it the only other guy in the hand had the ace.

It just wasn't my night. Hopefully next week will be better.

Good to have you come down. Have to introduce yourself next time. Once the new bridge opens should be even quicker :D

I was on the table when all this went down.
I have to say you played some terrible poker man.
It was [ks] [qc] Not A J man when you lost agaisnt the [6s] [6d]
Dont ever over play K Q its just as good as 2 3 unless you hit something, especially preflop.
The 6's were infront the whole way and wasnt a suprising win.
As for the guy you called a Donkey for calling you with K 10, i know that guy. & actually liked that play.. because you tried to bluff and raised about 4 hands in a row before that with junk. It was about time someone caught you out.
Unfortunetely for him you were holding the nuts this time, and more unfortunate for you turned out to be a split pot.
All in all thats just the way cards go man, i know every time im not in a pot bottom pair can win and when i flop two pair someone catched a flush everytime.
There is no point getting all up tight about it, its free poker so expect people to play loose and expect to get beat.
Theres always the next day

Yeah, the KQ does look familiar actually :(

Re: your mates K10 move which you some how liked, I don't think that's too different from me calling him, as he had been raising for fun prior to that, so didn't think a call was too far out of the question considering he was already a shortstack and looking desperate.

I didn't show any of my raises earlier (which I won because everyone folded), so not too sure where the 'raising with junk' comment comes from! :D

Looking forward to tonight 8-)

Thats a good night by my Standards 'shark' lost on the bubble again 3 out of 6 weeks at Tanunda... at least Ryan used my chips on the FT to good use --- he had the Ace high flush.
