Who thinks the NPL should have a bonus round? When would be the best time in the tournament and how much should the bonus be? $2000 is my suggestion, somewhere between the 1st and 2nd breaks, but ultimatetly up to the TD of the night. Its good if the bad beat table isn't full as a lot of players would chase a pot they normally wouldn't, and its like, "well I've got $600 left and the pots worth $2000 pre-flop, pre-betting, I'm all-in"
What are your thoughts?

Hey Guy's and Girl's
We have talked about this before and have not decided on weather it is a good idea for the reason of people chasing pot's they should have stayed out of but iam sure that if we get a soloution on how to make it fair on everyone we might introduce it in another season.

I don't like it. Basically turns the game into a game of lotto instead of poker. I feel that the card redraws are enough.

Re: BONUS $2000 Chips Round
I also agree that having a hand where there is a bonus XX amount in the pot before the cards are delt, just for the heck of it, isn't a great idea. Sure it's like an ante but it does, as Des so eloquently put it, make it a bit of a lotto.
On the other side of the coin... the games are meant for fun at the pub and a hand like that could push your casual player into a large stack that they don't usually accrue.
But I still strongly vote NO

Will dance for your chips!

Re: BONUS $2000 Chips Round
I think the only way to you could still encourage good poker, and give away extra chips is maybe have a bad beat jackpot?
i.e. if you lose with a full house or better then the loser gets 1000 chips or something?
at least it wont encourage people playing Q2 offsuit
i still wouldnt like it, just throwing ideas out there for discussion. i like it how it is run now

Re: BONUS $2000 Chips Round
I can see where this thread is headed.
Remember, this site is mainly gonna have members that are MAD about poker. Yes that means YOU! You reading this. And me also.
So, agreed, it encourages bad poker and it de-values the card system a little. Most people that post here won't like the idea, I don't like it myself. However, if you are a good player, then you will play the hand no differently. Fold it if you don't want to be tempted.
However, I'm a TD from a regional area and have ran over 100 tournaments. 60 for the NPL since it started and the rest, well, lets leave that one alone! Before Garth emailed everyone a few months ago NOT to do it, we had been doing it just before the first break, to give those short stacks a quick-once-off-chance to get back in the game, or bust out, and get on the bad beat table before it fills and you just miss out.
We would throw 2 yellow chips in the centre of the table at the completion of a hand when the table was empty.
Everyone goes "woooooohoooo" at the atmosphere picks up because its the first sighting of yellow for the night.
Everyone wants the glory!
Everyone at the table wants to be the only one at the table with yellow chips, and sit there lookin smug until the first chip-up.
True Poker players sit there and go "oh no, why?"
BUT, it is immensely popular and I will stick my neck out and say that if you put it to a vote at every tournament, 80% plus would want a bonus round.
Its pub poker, its fun. If you dont make it fun, people won't keep coming, and you all won't have any donkeys or fish to fleece chips off.
What say you all now, eh?
What's that? - You still hate the idea?
Thought so.
I bet it gets implemented within the next few seasons.
AND if it does and one of you play in the bonus hand because you have A-A, and get busted out by said "Q-2 off", don't blame us, it was you who crossed over to the dark side by even playing in that bonus hand. HA!
Be patient, Padowans, you will still make the points.
Save the serious stuff for the State Finals, the Satellite Qualifiers, ect.
