6 Live Reporting Updates You Probably Won't See This GF
This time next week we will most likely be getting real close to finding out which 888PL player will ship the largest first prize in FHG history. Hundreds of players will no doubt be following the live reporting from the PokerNetwork guys. Here are 6 live reporting updates you are unlikely to see:
1.) Chip Fight!
The player in the BB haphazardly throws in two chips only to see one of them roll across the table and knock over another guys chip stack. Enraged he picks up a T$1000 chip and throws it at the player in the BB across the table. The BB has an abusive wife and is skilled in dodging projectiles aimed at his head. He dodges the chip! It flies past his head and knocks over a drunken guy’s beer.
Jumping up to avoid anything spilling on his new Cargo pants, he knocks the table over and the chips are flung all over the place. Someone in the shadows shouted, “Chip Fight!” and the room descended into chaos. Several players have been rushed to the hospital with chip related injuries.
Above: Chip-related injuries
2.) "Why the long face?"
In addition to the 888PL GF, Caulfield Racecourse held the Memsie Stakes today. The main race started and as players and spectators gathered around to watch, a ray of sun reflected off Anette Melton's shiny dress and into the eyes of one of the horses. Dazed and confused the horse broke through a barrier and lead the other horses onto a collusion course with the GF room.
Someone in the shadows shouted, "Stampede!" The horses crashed through the walls and sent tables flying across the room. After just cleaning up from the chip fight, the TC does not look too happy. "Why the long face?", asked one spectator after noticing the TC's dissapointment.
3.) Dream Team Member Wooed
We finally tracked down the guy in the shadows. Turns out it was the Green Goblin on Table 23. We caught a bit of his conversation with a Dream Team member:
Green Goblin: You're an amazing player, Dream Team boy. You and I are not so different.
Dream Team Boy: I'm not like you. You're a d0nk.
Green Goblin: Well, to each his own. I chose my path, you chose the way of the hero. And they found you amusing for a while, the people of this league. But the one thing they love more than a hero is to see a hero fail, felted, sent to the rail. In spite of everything you've achieved, eventually they will hate you. Why bother?
Dream Team Boy: Because I get a ring at the end of the season.
Green Goblin: (slaps Dream Team boy on the head) Here's the real truth. There are eight thousand players in this league. And those teeming masses exist for the sole purpose of lifting the few exceptional players onto their shoulders. You, me? We're exceptional.
[leans in and grabs Dream Team boy's neck]
Green Goblin: I could squash you like a bug right now, but I'm offering you a choice. Join me in the teams event! Imagine what we could accomplish together... what we could ship. We could felt them all; cause the eliminations of countless fish in selfish battle again and again and again until we're both on the final table! Is that what you want? Think about it, hero!
Intense.
4.) Scott Murrin Eliminated in 4th for $9,200
Scott Murrin has been eliminated in 4th position. He min-raised UTG with [Ah][Ad] only to see Hillip Allsworth shove in the BB having Scott easily covered. Scott can't call quick enough to see Hillip table [8c][8d].
The board runs comes [kh][5c][Js] to see Scott a huge favourite to a double-up and take the chip lead. The turn however will bring his night to an end: it's the [8h].
5.)The G is in the House
Tony G was spotted over on the 100NL cash tables. It is a few levels below what he usually plays but that doesn't seem to be deterring him. He just stacked Caleb R. when his Ace held against Caleb's KJo. He seems to be moving around and gesturing wildly as Caleb counts out his chips. We can hear him from the other side of the room.
We caught some of the tirade: "Who's the table captain? You're not the captain. You know why I went all-in? Cos I had the heart and commitment to win the pot. Come on, on your bike South Australian. Bring some more South Australians. You call yourself a TD? Get on your bike!"
6.) Chip Leader Disqualified!
The league conducted random drug testing as players entered the room before play today and the chip leader has tested positive for poker performance-enhancing drug, "+EV". The player was escorted out of the main poker room having been disqualified and banned from playing 888PL poker for life. Spokesmen for the league said, "Poker performance-enhancing drugs will not be tolerated under any circumstances."

I like these stories:
maccatak11 wrote:But i do remember the very first games we played using the pieces out of a connect four set, and our very first cash game where you went to the bank and changed $40 into 20c pieces cos we did not yet own a chipset..
David wrote:My poker experience started when Scott moved in with me, and I asked him what the continuous beeps and knocking sounds were.
The end.
AceLosesKing wrote:My poker biography is still being written, but I'll write down what's happened so far.
My first introduction to poker was in Yr 12 at GHS (2006). I remember sneaking out with my mates one day during study and playing poker with my deck of Ralph cards. JD and Craig taught me the basics, I went home and was hooked, I remember trying to set up a royal flush for myself the next day - I gave up 10 mins later.
Soon, every study lesson we'd be sneaking into a free room and just playing cards. Once, we bought some paper and teared [sic] it up into little pieces for chips. When it was lunch time, we left the room and hundreds of small pieces of paper all over the place. We got in trouble for that one.

I liked when Bear Grylls and MacGyver dropped by.
Pity they didn't do it more often.
