Betting with lower denomination chips

Postby Bacon » Thu Apr 17, 2008 12:18 pm

Do the rules state that you must use the higher value demon chips when betting?

What I mean is that you are playing blinds of 50/100... SB puts out 2 greens, BB MUST use a black.

I find it quite annoying when someone bets 400, and puts out 16 green chips (which they have carefully counted).

Is it a rule or just good manners to play 4 black chips?

i agree with you bacon, i think that its just plain rude to count out your greens when you have a few blacks just sitting there that would do the same job.

not sure why people insist on putting out the greens.

another good one with chips that i see a lot and dont do enough of myself, is exploiting the chip-up.

i.e if its the last hand before the break, lead out with 175 instead of 200, and that 25 that is left in your stack will get chipped up to 100. so its like you are getting a 75 bet for nothing.

True.. if you do it anytime during the 50/100 blind level, you can guage your chips though..

Cos if you bet 175 and get 2 callers, and you win, then you have won another 350 and not got the extra chips. If you lost, then you would.

I can't find it in the rules, but I'm sure there was something originally.

And I know it'd be hard to convince people that it something we should all do... it would speed up the game just a little bit.

I know on the final table, some TDs will say (when players are counting out a bet in small coin):

"Use the large chips please"

It's etiquette.

Also save's the dealer from having to count chips all the time.
