hawthorn will be a big test for them, i think their rucks will smash hawthorns though, and could give them the edge. (then again, pretty sure jacobs won the rucks pretty easily and the crows still got smashed)

Crows 34 hit outs to the Hawks 41.
Hale 23 , Roughie 9, Ozzie 5, Shiels & Suckling 1 each
Jacobs 25, Tippett 9
So Hawks won the Ruck contest

AFL 2012

Being a (former) ruckman myself, hit outs isnt the best stat to say who "won" the ruck contest.

Not saying hawthorn didn't win it or the crows did. But hit outs to advantage (dunno who won this) is a much, much better guide to who won the day. Especially if you are counting third man up hit outs in this.

I am more concerned about the tall forwards myself, but Gibson and Co impress me more and more each week (not looking at isolated incidents where the ball is put in the perfect spot for the forward and shoenmakers looks a fool).
Subiaco should suit our style too.

gibson really hurt the crows on the weekend, although if tippett and walker could kick straight, i think the game could have been a lot different. hawthorn ran away with it in the end, but the crows had chances to keep with them and didnt take them.

i guess that shows hawthorn are still a class above the crows, the crows needed to take absolutely every opportunity in order to win and they didnt.

still liking where the crows are at though, not quite ready to match it with the flag favourites, but i still think we can take a couple of top 4 scalps on the way to a finish in the bottom half of the eight.

They won the stats.
Not the hitout contest.

Shiels and Suckling with 1 each is a third man up.

shoenmakers was made to look pretty stupid by tippett a few times, but as you say, that had more to do with the crows actually delivering it to him well than anything else. i like gibson a lot more though, he is a gun

Gibson is starting to mark the ball & not punch it so I expect him to start getting a lot more of the footy.

I hope the Eagles actually make him have an opponent. He was killing us, yet we kept Reilly as a loose man in defence.
I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become
