Can anyone clarify the qualification period ( in regards to how many games have been played, and in what time frame)... ive not been able to play at the pub as often as i'd like, but ive had a look on 888pl website and found that ive played 11 games since October (4 month period).... is this enough?, or do i need to play 10 games in one season?

Main Event DISCUSSION!

Some quick answers from the iPhone

1.) qualification period from this event will be July 1st. For the August event it will be from March 1st.

2.) while it is unfortunate that Jmack will not be at crown in a few weeks we will not open this event to buy ins. In fact SNG's may be removed from the equation.

The reasons for this are lengthy but the short story is that this is a qualification only event and is more than a standard casino buy in event.

Satellite numbers, in the most part, have been up over 888PL GF satellites for this very reason.

Qualification into this event isn't meant to be easy, and opening up buy ins attacks the integrity of this event. I even had to turn down both Jeff and Shane who wanted to participate in this event based on our stringent guidelines and the ethos of this event.

$500,000 in cash and prizes gents, the pinnacle event for all pub poker players, twice per year, exclusive qualification methods, no buy ins. Who doesn't want a seat to this event? Does the qualify only method incentivize you more or less?

I think the fact that you cant direct buyin is a great thing, but so long as people have ample opportunity to qualify. so i think as long as there are lots of online, live and SNG qualifiers, i think qualification only is a good thing.

of course i reserve my right to change that opinion when i bubble a few satellites :D

Hey Garth. I understand what you are saying above, and I only have myself to blame for not qualifying (although coming 2nd in 4 satellites stings quite a bit). Karma for winning all those GF tickets I guess!!

My point was more directed at rewarding your volume players with the option (let's face it, 80 games in 6 months isn't a bad effort!!). It would be only a few people in the league(s) that would go to the effort as a back up to getting into the Main Event, considering they would still have to pay the $1200 to play if they didn't qualify, but show's that you recognise their loyalty/patronidge. Kinda like the "Status" program on online poker sites, the more you play, the more you are entitled to.....

I am however really surprised to hear that you have turned away the likes of Shane Warne & Jeff Fenech from the event, when you promote it as "more than a poker tournament, but an experience". I know many of your players would absolutely be beside themselves at the chance to play with/meet either of these guys, and that in itself is an experience!!

Just a little feed back, I am sure the event will be awesome either way!! (the reason I am so gutted is because I KNOW it will be AWESOME!!)

I turned down their offer to particpate in the event, not to attend the event or paritcpate in side events.

Jeff will be there, Shane might not.

Oh and FYI - we had over 100 players play over 40 events in Jan.

I am still adamant that there will be no direct buy in to the Main Event no matter what the circumstances or level of loyalty.

There are other projects we are working on right now for our high volume and ego driven players.

looks like the event will be the monthly mega stack

http://www.pokermedia.com.au/news/192-c ... edule.aspx

$200 buyin, 25k start stack, $100 addon after 12 levels for another 25k

crownpoker site says it is awarding an AM ticket as well as cash.

i am assuming the levels will 20 mins, at least for the first 12 levels, but havent seen it listed anywhere.

sounds like a pretty fun tourney though
