Tim ,

How about bringing back the good ole teams event ,

8 players @ $50-75 each : $4-600/team ,

If advertised throughout 888PL AND APL Venues it surely would generate 20+ teams easily , as it has in the past without APL involved !

(20 x $500 = $10,000)

1st prize : 8 x Main Event tickets

So how bout it ?

;)
When choosing between the 2 evils , I like to choose the 1 i haven't tried yet !

Well since I am airing some of my 888PL concerns and wishes, here are a couple more.

Is there going to be a decent 888PL cash game venue opening up on Saturday night some where in Adelaide?

Will 888PL get back into the Port Adelaide / Lefevre Peninsula region in the future?

This one's on me. SE Coordinator and all that.

The reason we stopped the teams event in the first place was because it was getting stale. We went from 23 teams the first time we ran it, down to 9 the last time we ran it.

My initial plan was to rotate between Partners, 4-man Teams and 8-man Teams every finals series, in order to keep everything fresh and exciting. However due to the extremely low turn out at the last finals it looks like we will not be running the Saturday component of the finals series in the future. Instead we will be launching a very different Saturday series in the future with the sole goal of generating ME tickets monthly.

The only way we will be running a Teams event in the future will be a standalone event. That said, for me to sell the idea to a venue and get it running, I need to know it will be supported adequately.

For the record, I had 7 players complain to me about not having the Teams Event at the last finals. Of those 7, 6 were from Team Sin2Win. No-one else seemed too upset about it. The general vibe I got was that players were happy to have something new.

Something else guys, and I mean this with the most amount of respect possible. You need to get it out of your head that with FHG now owning APL in this state and combining for finals and SE events it is going to make a huge difference. FHG went from having 80+ games per week to 90+ games per week. We gained 11 games. That's just a fact after the terrible actions of APL's previous franchise "owner". Their biggest weekly game averages in the mid to high 30s. There just isn't the active player base it once was.

Considering a fair proportion of APL's player base also plays 888PL prior to this, most would already know about our finals and SEs.

In every other state, APL has a large presence at the very least. Combining in those states really is a game changer. In SA though, very little will change.

Yes we will get more players to the state champs, but we are also qualifying more across the entire network than the last few finals.

It DOES make a huge difference though - in the negative.
That's the whole issue.

The 888PL in SA, and the players here, have made it successful.
The acquisition has meant that - without us doing anything - we have less to gain. It's the fact other states have a massive APL pool that makes it worse for us.
