wow this article is completely devoid of objectivity.

I have a question about the "processing" time, with respect to how long it takes and why it "should be done quicker".

Why do people seem to think it's entirely up to whoever does that job over here as to just how long that will take?

Surely (among other things) there's questions that need to be asked. Obvious examples would include "is this person a wanted criminal?" or "are they really a <insert profession here>?" or "are they actually from the country they say they're from?"

I'm not sure I can understand how getting that sort of information from a third world, war torn country can possibly be seen as easily achievable, or done in what you and I would consider a reasonable amount of time. I get a bit ticked off when people declare it should be done quicker, as though it takes 24 hours or something. Clearly, it shouldn't take x number of years either - but I'm sure you understand my point here.

I'm also reasonably sure very few people are actually deliberately being objective when this topic comes up (I'm not specificaly referring to on here, I mean in general). Naturally, this would contribute to some of the absolute rubbish that gets sprouted from time to time - regardless of the source.

What grinds my gears the most though, is that we all need to be aware of who owns the source of the information we get from the media, and what political party they favour. Not to mention simple things like is it just an opinion piece but people are treating it as fact because it's in the paper or whatnot. What a farce! Report the bloody facts, you knobs!
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Living in Victoria, I had to get a background check conducted on my driving history in Canberra. After waiting 2 months, the Victorian government informed me they were unable to get this information from the ACT government, and I would have to contact the ACT government, get this information myself, and forward it back to the Victorian governement. Pete is spot on in his point here. There is no "quick fix" once they arrive here without documents.
