Other then the Top 50 in the state, the second flight was all country. The women knocked out first in the second flight drove all the way from bordertown to play what was 5min of poker.

If i had been a player from first flight, i would have gone home and and turned off my head watching telly or something. now what really stopped first flights leaving was the fear of the no car park game. Either way, if i stayed at the venue i would have ordered a light meal, brought a fresh deck of cigs, sat in sports bar. Both flights had a long day.

Basicly in a nut shell, most of your waiting time = 2nd flights driving time.

I think a long day of poker is a great test to any poker player, and highlights the importance of staying of tilt.

I had a great day working there guys, i was watching some very smart poker.

Nice post, nice response and zero negativity m8 well done. I feel for the girls from Bordertown lasting only 5 minutes.

However I bet they didn't hang around too long seeing the shops were open LOL.

If we were from B'town my missus would have had me drop her off in town and she'd be gone until the shops closed. LOL On the Old Obarne to TTP and back at the Gully for tea.

I assume most country folk would have or could have, done the same and even more-so on a full weekend venue.

Cheers from Bob B

No idea Bob, as to how many from the top 50 got through.

Not sure it matters though.

It doesn't matter if you played 100 games and qualified in the top 50, or if you won a lucky event at the end like the Tonsley/GJT... The state final is a clean slate - it has no relevance how you got there.

No one was better or worse than anyone else. Both flights played to a "time" and then joined. Since there were less people in flight two, less people got through.

That's spot on I reckon Dave.

A total field of 601 or even a flight of 200+ isn't exactly your average tourney. It's a bit of a different game and you have to pay more attention to a range of things. I love it, can't get enough of it!

All we need to do now is convince every large sized venue that might possibly host finals to get themselves a beer garden like the TTG hotel has and we'll be laughing :)

Interesting point.... they sell Carlsberg at the Gully and I didn't have one there all day! I think I purchased shares in red bull though :P
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

You don't find it hard to concentrate with that much sugar'n'stuff racing thru your system?

I don't drink them very often, but I made the mistake of accepting one on the way into an exam from some promo chicks and i found it a little hard to settle in the exam...

By the way, in answer to the question, who had the biggest advantage going into the joining of flights... the answer is;

THE ONES WITH THE MOST CHIPS.

I found it hard to not shake! I had about 7 of those bloody things and at one stage had to explain to the table that I wasn't nervous or anything and it was just the red bulls :) I hafta say tho I did find it a lot easier to concentrate having 7 red bulls instead of 7 Carlsbergs :P

Did I mention I had a late one the previous night? Stupid bucks party, robbed me of my sleep!

Bob,
I never took any of the posts as truly negative.
I accepted the feedback and have stated that we will endeavor to have the venue seat all at once.

Otherwise we are seriously considering a two day event or having two venues operate simultaneously.
I think it is something to seriously consider.

A complaint is something I take very seriously, it's not a whinge or a gripe guys. No matter what I day on here we take everything, that you as players propose, very seriously.

I was disappointed thought that only a few took the time to congratulate and praise staff than those who wanted to post on here about their thoughts on the flight system.

It's not attack on anyone, I think I am allowed to express my disappointment at times.

I appreciate the feedback and I am glad that many are happy with the state finals and that they really enjoyed them. I know your post started off as a query but it did denegrate into an opinion based thread on the flight system, noone really answered your query fully.

To be quite honest I think the first flight has the greatest advantage as long as they prepared correctly the night before. Which means having a good meal and plenty of rest the night before.

To answer your questions:
Flight 1: 328
Flight 2: 273

Numbers that moved on to recombine:
Flight 1: 46
Flight 2: 42

Average chip stack of players from flights when combined.
Flight 1: 20,000
Flight 2: 19,500

Members of top 50 in the combine:
Not too sure but I think it was at least 8.

Top 50 that cashed:
0 I think, but I have been informed it could have possibly been three.

New promotions for this season:
Almost an extra $10,000 in prizes for this season.
State Final will remain at a $25,000 prize pool from now on, and the top 30 will be paid.
Country regions to have a regional leaderboard and regional final prize pool. Prize pools remain the same but with cash rewards been leaned towards finals. So for example the BG region will see a decrease in cash rewards for the leaderboard but an increase of cash for the finals.
A satellite series that will see all players able to qualify but weighted towards metro players or all metro regions will have a $1000 final.
So many things up in the air but we have more dosh to spread around yet again.

Keep the ideas coming.
