Before the day I assumed (wrongly) that the tournament would be in the dining and band areas. when I saw that it was outside (if you can call it that these days at the 'Gully) I was really interested.

I think it worked REALLY well - the idea of reducing each flight, and then starting the recombine, at the BOTTOM area was great. I really felt like I was in a pit or something similar, with people bunched around waiting to see what was happening.

The ramp was almost the "You are the weakest link" walk.

I also loved the prearranged seats and stacks already setup for people at the recombine.

Hi guys, my two cents worth.

I was in the first flight. When we recombined I noticed I had gone off the boil. Before the break I was on fire.

Fire!!!! I tells ya!

Other than that the flight system was pretty balanced. A well organized event Thanks NPL

Bob B wrote:I was sitting at my computer on Monday thinking, "which flight had the best advantages going into the finals"????

I never made it past the first break but, I felt the first flight were at a disadvantage.

My reasons are as follows.

I assumed most punters like me would have woke up around 8am, (if they slept at all) to register between the 9.00am to 10.30am time slot.

For the Flt1 punters I felt it would have been a really, really, long day. I realise there was around a 4 hour break while the second flight was in progress but, who would have gone home???

If they made the final table (not like me) then they would have played through to the 2.30am finish. Making it around an 18 hour plus day or at least a 16 hour tournament.

I congratulate them for their stamina as it was a really big ask for some who were tired but they did it.

Comparing this to the 2nd flight who could have slept in, had lunch at home and register between 2pm - 3.30pm. So they had around a 4 to 6 hour advantage over flight 1.

Plus they only had a short break before joining the final amalgamated group.

Okay, now before anyone jumps on my case and says I'm sounding like a whinger I'm far from that. I'm more curious as to whether the above was an advantage or disadvantage to the first flight punter or not!!!!!!

So, I was wondering what the percentages would be of the Flt1 punters compared to Flt2 who made it to the amalgamation and then the percentages the top 30 prize winners????

Okay I know there is someone out there (LIKE YOU DAVE) or anyone else who is more than capable of working out the percentages of who made it to the amalgamation and the final 30.

Cheers Bob B

For those who have shown an interest in this particular POST I have just taken the time to "edit" the original POST by highlighting certain paragraphs.

I have highlighted the various paragraphs so that those people who can only read posts in a negative nature may now read the compliments and the reason for the post was due to my outright curiosity.

I find it so rediculous that a simple queery and my personal view has been blown out of proportion.

And now others who responded with their personal views are being labelled as poor players, negative posters and show little or no respect for the people who put the venue together.

It was a great venue as posted earlier,

It was run very professionally

I for one totally enjoyed my time

And yes we all know how much time and effort went into preparing and running the event

And if you had waited long enough and this post was as short as I had intended it to have been you and your team would have got your bloody accolaides that you so gracefully deserve, M8.

The percentages of people were basically relative to the number of people in the flight. Most tournaments reduce numbers exponentially anyway.. doesn't matter on the starting amount.

I think it was 328 and 238 in the flights?

It was around 55 people from flight 1 and 33 from flight 2. Or something like that... not sure. Either way it was 88 people all up?

Hi All,

Other then the Top 50 in the state, the second flight was all country. The women knocked out first in the second flight drove all the way from bordertown to play what was 5min of poker.

If i had been a player from first flight, i would have gone home and and turned off my head watching telly or something. now what really stopped first flights leaving was the fear of the no car park game. Either way, if i stayed at the venue i would have ordered a light meal, brought a fresh deck of cigs, sat in sports bar. Both flights had a long day.

Basicly in a nut shell, most of your waiting time = 2nd flights driving time.

I think a long day of poker is a great test to any poker player, and highlights the importance of staying of tilt.

I had a great day working there guys, i was watching some very smart poker.

Thanks David. Your not gonna believe me when I tell you that I was initially going to just send you a PM and ask you about the percentages etc. LMOA

Actually, what triggered it off was when I Posted "HOW DID YOU GO IN THE FINALS". The various responses from the punters made me think or question myself as to what the percentages would have been or whether there was an advantage between the two flights.

Your above reply of 55 and 33 has thrown me off somewhat considering there were 50 of the top players in the second flight!!!!!!!

This now poses me in asking you another question...........How many of the top 50 made it through to the top 30 and or the final table????

Can you see how my mind thinks and why I'm such an inquisitive old bugga??? I'm not one for standing back and letting others ask what I'm thinking.

I'm one who needs to know so I ask and that seems to be putting some people on tilt, LOL. I also like to be part of a think tank and I would never consider changing the points system as suggested in a recent post by Garth. But that's my opinion of which I have my reasons.

Anyway, cheers mate, and let me know, if you know, what I want to know, okay????
