Bob, you have bigger lungs than me and I snore like a champion.

I'm scared of what you would sound like so I wouldn't take the room next to you EVER lol
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

David wrote:Could be 10 flights, and I could be in any of them and I'd be more than happy just to be there.

I would put advantages down to poker ability, skill, luck, nouse, luck and luck. And some skill.

I don't give a toss how long I need to wait or lack thereof when it comes to a tournament that big.

I would happily drive 2 hours for a first flight, find something to do for 4 hours and return. Great day out, regardless of times and distances.

Thank you, thank you, thank you David. That's exactly what you and I would be doing if I were to go to a distant country venue.

By the way the Initial post was really going to be sent to you via PM. But, it seemed like it would be a good post so I changed it. LOL What was I thinking LOL

So, as per the first Post are you able to do a % breakdown later????????

has anyone mentioned spreading 2 or even more flights over multiple venues in a region, that way all flights could start at the same time.. late arvo then have a break as fields merge for a recombine..

npl would love it i am sure cos they get to be paid by multiple venues for having the state final at their site

maybe start flight 1 at tea tree gully - flight and flight 2 at the windsor at the same time.. have a time recombine then all that make that go to one or the other... OR the highlander in the middle that way npl gets a third venue in the mix (these venues just a example only

Do any of you appreciate the logistical nightmare that is the State Finals?
To spread the flights over three different venues would make it even worse then I am sure we would get complaints of how it was unfair that someone had to play in a certain venue and then another player had a distinct advantage by been able to be play at another venue.

601 runners on the weekend just gone. No venue would be large enough to seat all of these players at once nor are we equipped well enough to deal with seating this many players all at once, hence the logistical nightmare.

Then suggesting that it should be a two day event? We get enough grumbles from regional guys about the time and distance traveled and how much it costs them to attend the event, let alone turning it into a two day event.

Could you imagine if I asked metro folk to drive to Whyalla for a two day State Final.

I appreciate the feedback and thoughts gentleman, but my staff worked their arses of to produce a great event. Most of us worked for 20 hours that day and it is disheartening when the biggest thread on state finals is players complaining about the flight system. We would love to be able to shorten our day and seat all players at once, trust me it would make my job and the staffs a hell of a lot easier, but unfortunately we can't get everything that we want.

I'm sorry if it was coming across as complaining as I had a great time even though I didn't even make it to the recombine. Sometimes comments are just feedback. As I said before, I preffered the 1 flight system of season 2 but this season had it's advantages as well. We didn't have to get up at sparrows to drive the 3 hours to get there as we didn't play til the afternoon.

I know it would have been a long day for you guys and I don't envy you at all. Having said that, the final didn't end anywhere near as late in season 2. Was that caused by the 2 flight system, or did things just fall behind schedule, or were people just playing better with better chip management. Please don't take anything I have said as a complaint or whatever but as constructive feedback.
Cheers

btw thanks for the dvd :D

Any flight system will always run later than the whole field starting at the same time. Everything ran to a very tight schedule, but with a flight system you are basically playing the first three hours twice.

Feedback is feedback, but what about starting a thread congratulating the staff on running a great tournament and working for 20 hours plus, Suzie and myself were on site for almost 22 hours.

The good thing is that if the only negative aspect to come out of the state finals is that it is a flight system, I am one happy man.

i think you are right garth

people are ALWAYS going to complain about something, myself included, but if its only nit picking, which complaining about the flight system essentially is, then you have obviously done a good job
