Re: Alternative Structures at other providers
Firstly it is pretty frustrating trying to read a thread when it would appear that some members of this forum have some issues with the author. To me it was pretty obvious all along what the point he was trying to make.
We all know you can not improve unless you actually compare products. 888pl wants to be the best pub poker league in Australia so it makes sense that its clients and management would try (or spy) on other available products in the market place. This way they can take away what is good and apply it to your own product. Continuous improvement has and always should be the methos of any business. 888pl is no different.
Gee I guess this is why AFL clubs send people to watch training and matches of other clubs. Any advantage that can be gained over the oppositon can only help in keeping in front of them.
So Gundog has identified a structure in a tournament which he enjoyed and as a client of 888pl is offering is opinion enabling 888pl and its clients to be placed in an informed position to decide whether this structure could assist 888pl in their continuous improvement.
And one final point. The original subject heading actually gained my interest whereby I wanted to find out what it was all about. The current heading I probably wouldnt have bothered.

Unfortunatly madali 888pl is not devoid poor tournement staff, one venue a few months back a TC fueled a dispute, was it not for the venue staff and committee members this could have got ugly. I not sure who contacted 888pl senior staff but Nathan arrived on the scene quickly who I suppose smoothed some ruffled feathers.
I visit the venue every infrequently and each time there was a different TC in charge this is not conducive to building a good player/venue/TC harmony.
Here in my region we have had less than desirable TC's
And in that case I probably would not attend 888 in your area. I am lucky in my area that we have very knowledgeable tc's who are very personable. We only have the same 3 who work although we have had others in the past 2 of whom I am lucky to work with now. If I had not had good tc's when I started then I would not be playing now as it was these guys who helped me find my feet when I was a beginner and really made poker fun. It is a shame if other new players are not given this same experience elsewhere. As I stated earlier my first priority is getting into a game I will enjoy and I have outlined the factors that are important to me. Blind structures therefore are a secondary concern. I will add though that I do like to idea of blinds going up quicker in the beginning of a game and slowly getting longer.
Side note: I have re read this post and maybe I am missing something but I did not pick up that anyone had an issue with the Author ( and I can tell you I certainly don't). Compared to other threads which have been quite heated this one was quite nice

nice post mate
this idea was floated during a game at my local last night and most players were pretty interested in the idea of loosing some play early in an attempt to gain some play late, as most find the shove/fold poker played normally as a bit of a crap shoot
Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

Wow benny the cunt you were quick to change the title of the thread without actually reading the origional post fully or were you reacting to the nonsense posts of those who cared not to contribute about the actual content asked about.
What I did enjoy was their blind structure, and start stack, which I thought I would put it out there for comment.
1st 4 blind levels are 10 minutes.
Break
The next 4 are 12 minutes
Break
Then remain at 15 minutes to the finish.
Starting stack is 5000, with a loyality bonus of 5000 (Effectivly if you turn up every week your start stack is 10k) you have 2 cards which are worth 5000 each, the bonus is if you have both cards at the 1st break they are worth 15000 in total.

@madali - thank you.
@thedols - this is not a forum for promotion of other leagues, hence the original clarification.
@benny the cunt - maybe check to see if it had already been changed, because it had.

Re: Alternative Structures at other providers
Those blinds seem pretty good, i like the idea of a bit more play at the business end of a tourney.
TC quality, table size, provider name, the financial viability of event have little relevence on the OP's post, but all imput should be encouraged.
P.s. Don't over-moderate this forum.

Re: Alternative Structures at other providers
Sorry all but I think this needs to said.
No where in the origional post was the a promotion of another league, it was only after a question from another contributor that the other leagues name was mentioned.
In fact I named the thread " I played the Darkside" because that word has been used in the past within this forum, when others have played with alternate providers.
I think I cannot be challenged by anyone on this forum for not supporting the 888pl brand, I have supported 40 different venues over the last 4 years.
So may I suggest to those that attempted to make smart arse comments, you havnt contributed any interlectual content of the thread.
