Venues are continuing to be supported as much as they were previously.

Once again I understand the concern behind it all, but the truth is that you can poke holes in any proposed league or competition change, but only time will tell whether it was a positive move forward or detrimental to players, venues or the FullHouse group.

As I have and always will support my riverland venues, so whats the reason for the Metro venues downwood trend, is it the competitors causing short term angst by under cutting 888pl or is it the consolidation of the player base where the game has gone past the casual pub player.

Prizes were on arrival of the night;

100 Voucher for first.
1 sixer for 2nd.
1 sixer for 3rd.

Second game;

$100 Cash
1 sixer for second.

During the middle of the first game, I spoke with bar staff, and me and Andre arranged the Cash for first, given the playing time in the first game. So the prizes were swapped on the night.

Admazing only D. Murrin had a postive comment directed to me on the night, which was "I like the antes".
1 broke even took down the 888PL info email, so he could complain how this MEGA game has recked hes normal 2 -3 tables at WAFC. There were VERY large amounts of complainats but finsh time of this event, yet then admazing 75% room made comments that with access to 30K and 15 mins blinds, Blinds go up to quick!!!!

Overall as a TC veiw, i think the blinds are nearly spot on.
Given that we run it over two nights, perhaps 1 game could be CBI. ?

Well you SA poker players, seems that this will affect you guys too soon enough. (refer to Harps' thread in 888pl in Vic)

Garth, probably unrelated to this thread, but an important comment I thought. Gundog touched on it, but is something I have been thinking about since the $50 buy-in was introduced for States. It worries me that this new system will actually hurt Fullhouse Group and 888pl. Once players find out that all they have to do is show up for 8 games in 3 months (spending on average $30 per game), then only need to spend another $50 to get into State finals, what is their incentive to play ANY more games???

This could potentially cost Fullhouse Group, and its venues Thousands of $$......
What?, poker without the river??, you've just made my dreams come true!!!

What's the incentive to play now?

That's actually a serious question, despite how it probably looks.

What I mean by that is if you took a step back and asked yourself "why do I play in the 888PL?" what answers would you personally come up with and from that, how much does it have to do with direct buy-ins or not?

eg: "I like to play poker with my friends" - you can do that at home too.
or "I like the idea of being able to win big $" - direct buyin won't really harm that will it?

and so on.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

At the moment I'm sure that they are, given that the season his only one month in!

I think you might need to test this support after people have played their 8 games though, which is probably just around the corner.

Would be a better idea that a qualification requirement would be for people to play 8 games at a particular venue (or for venues that run more than one game, 8 of a particular day and time). At least people are then required to have some sort of loyalty to a certain venue/event.

Also like the idea of the buy-in for non-qualified players to be at least $100 (or more).

Grant, good to hear you've managed to put together another game or two for yourself and managed to keep yourself in a job. I might turn up some time.

ill definately be heading down to this game next week, despite the complaints that i have heard about the structure

30k stacks, 15min blinds + antes...what more could a player want?

running one night as a CBI would certainly add another aspect to the game, come down the first night to test the waters on how you handle the deep stack game play, then come back the next night when you are more confident for the CBI

to expand on BP's answers,

1st I love playing poker, but being in a regional the games in your home venue attracts basically the same players every week, you know which players have a range from A to 2 and will chase to river every hand, times you get paid off and then theres the bad beats but that pub poker.
I will continue to support local venues but I play mainly for the enjoyment, but because I can afford it I also tend to travel other venues to play unknown players to put my game style to the test.

At the end of the day I dont need to make the top 4 in a venue to make the semi ......just pay my $50. You dont have tobe loyal to a venue to play the semi's.......Is that good for the venues.

how about with the semi's having a prize on the side for player that runs the deepest from actually qualifying ?? i think they tried this with the state top 50 once with different coloured wrist bands...not sure how the money would be generated but just a idea ..or even getting the venues more on board with rewarding the venue winners to keep people interested that way ?? more than one way to skin a cat ..
plus just while im here the teams event was great on the weekend enjoyed catching up with people ..but a quick question is there a way to have a indivdual award still or finding a way to keep some players interested and something to play for when the they know there team has flopped ...and yes my team ran crap hahaha so come second game after 10 min there was no point wasting my time?? just putting out there even though there is no I in team :-)

and back on the westies topic i would love to see a cash buy in for this also
CHECK IT TO THE CRAZY !!!!
