JHDS series 5

Postby Patrick_Dillon » Thu Nov 18, 2010 3:31 pm

So who's playing what?

I think I'm going to go out this time and play,

Week starting Sunday the 28th Nov

the opening event 340$ Start stack 15k
Teams (with Chris Whitmee) 200$ Start stack 12k
PLO 230$ Start stack 15k (triple chance)
Terminator 340$ Start stack 15k
Main Event 550$ Start stack 20k

The ME is a great structure and identical to the GF.

I will not be playing the opening event, but aside from that I will probably play most if not all those events. The PLO I am really looking forward to, I have never played a PLO tournament at the casino, very curious to know what the play will be.

I suppose I should start thinking about finding a partner for the teams.

PLO tournaments are easily the most fun tournaments you can play. So much action every hand with flops often having 3 and 4 runners, especially in the early going.

This tournament is triple chance too so there should be even more gambling early on.
I ran deep last time out only for Brett to river me with 13 left. He FT'd for a good score.

It's a very soft field at Crown as most of the players haven't played before or those that have, have very little live tournament exposure. You'll see alot of people overplaying AAxx and 2 pairs or sets on straight bored. You'll also see alot of misreading of hands with people thinking they have full houses using 3 cards or flushes only using 1.

Definately the best value of the week if they get 150+ players which they should.

I cannot wait.

Opening and Teams for me.

Will think about playing more events closer to the date and see how far the finances will stretch!

Go My Team!!!! With Irish carrying the team!

My advice for the Omaha, Learn how to hold the cards.

My first omaha tournament was hard because i felt awkward holding the cards and trying to read them.

When Dave and Mat came across and we did the pre game omaha flips at home, they showed me a way to flip the cards. Came 13th that night and knocked out Patty, hehehe, Don't knock my two pair draw. Or the power of the one outer.

In terms of play, there are a lot of bad players that will bet you out of your drawing hands even though you are the favourite. Just need to play of 5 cards and gauge to see if your in a good spot. Mind you the times i have been knocked out i was a 80/20 favourite on the turn and got shafted on the river, and the other time i was 40/60.

Be prepared to spend a good 8 hours on the felt though, both times i have finished past 2am. And in the later stages, there is no room left to move.

Good luck though Ratty, certain you can run good.

100 each 200 total.

12k start stacks so not as fishy as alot of teams events in crown so you will definately hold your own!
