If one of these players, who finishes 6th at their venue, but gets bumped up to 5th and earns a state finals seat because a player who finished above them at that venue was also in the top 50, what do you think their opinion of the current top 50 leaderboard ranking and qualification system be?

Pretty sure they wouldn't refuse the seat.

OK Cougar, im dropping the moderator tag for this post and this post only.

You sir, have no idea!! Just because you weren't good enough to qualify at your regular venue, you decided to have a crack at the Grand Junction late game like a lot of others did.

Well it seems like you missed out because you are back on here sprouting your BS again.

If you didn't like the fact someone could qualify in a 2 week venue, why the hell did you play there? Because all you care about is the state finals and that was the only oppourtunity you had. If you won a seat you definately wouldn't be on here complaining. You'd be saying thanks because the NPL gave another 10 people a chance to qualify (GJT and Tonsley) in 2 weeks.

You sir, are a hypocrite.

Just because you weren't good enough to qualify... you come on here. Why don't you take it like a man, sit down, shut the hell up, and actually try to improve your game so that you can qualify according to the NPL requirements. Instead of trying to get NPL to change their requirements to suit you.

It's like a goalkeeper in soccer asking for the goals to be smaller because he can't jump as far. Whereas the striker wants bigger goals to shoot at.

The requirements are set in stone. Like it or lump it.

Have you actualy thought about this before you said it, or why someone could come 20th and be bumped up to 5th?

So first off, why do people get bumped up? Because players above qualify higher at another venue or top 50 in state, So if hypotheticly someone was bumped up 15 spots that means the 15 players above him/her are very talented players and thus the level of poker at that venue is higher then a majority of other venues,

So again qualifying for state finals is primarly based on skills with a few exceptions, Is this player less deserving of his invite simply because he came 20th in a venue with excellent players. What about venues up in regional areas, How do we distinguish who is better, the player who came top 5 out of an average of 30 players that don't know what a pot raise is, or someone who came 20th out of 100 avg venue with exceedingly good players?

First off, you agree that costa is on the ball, but then you say a player who comes 6th? shouldnt that player want to be bumped up?
and secondly if you want to qualify for state finals, all you have to do is be consistent, ask Audrey Bewlex one of my regulars from Highlander

So I will take this opportunity now to congradulate Audrey on an outstanding season, she did not win 1 tourny she didnt even come 2nd. But she pointed in 9 out of 10 games at highlander, and totaly smashed the top 5 leaderboard.

Well Done Audrey

i don't think you realise how silly you sound cougar

why did you play at the GJT in the late game? i bet you that if you had qualified for the finals there, that your post would not be there.

I've said it now ten times at least- REWARD THE MEGA PLAYERS- but only marginally, REWARD THE BEST PLAYERS- real averages.
REWARD THE LOYAL PLAYERS- one venue only players who spend loads of $$$$, and finally, cut the crap about what it is you are trying to convince NPL players to believe "What's in it for them' when in fact the real deal is still 'What's in it for NPL".,
HELP THE MINOR PLAYERS

YOU CAN FOOL SOME OF THE PEOPLE SOME OF THE TIME, BUT IT IS ONLY FOOLS THAT BELIEVE THE CURRENT SYSTEM IS FOR THE PEOPLE.

And I think I have responded ten times with why these rewards are in place. We are a business Cougar, any and all promotions will lean towards creating incentives for players to play more than once or twice a week. The more players playing per week = more income for the business = greater prize pool.
Simple maths as far as I am concerned and I have never denied the fact that we instigated the new State Leaderboard system to promote return play.

HELP THE MINOR PLAYERS
How?? What do you want us to do?

REWARD THE LOYAL PLAYERS- one venue only players who spend loads of $$$$
We do reward our loyal players, those players who play a large multitude of games and bring more income into the business than the person who plays 9 or ten games per season, what is the point in rewarding them? Where is that good business or even a good competition?

Cougar, didn't your whole censorship rant start because you wanted to find a way for people, who couldn't play the same venue week in, week out, or 10 times a week, to qualify for state finals & other incentives. Well here's the opportunity at GJT & Tonsley & you still dont like it.

"I have a concern that potentially thousands of part-time players, (self employed, shiftworkers, single parents with childcare issues, itinerant workers) are not continuing to play because there is nothing in it for them other than a game of cards. They simply don't have the opportunity to play enough games to qualify for anything. "

I dont think you even know what your point is. You're creating argument for the sake of it, and bringing only negatives to this forum. So you didn't make state finals this season. Bad luck. Neither did thousands of other better players, but there's only one person constantly complaining about the system. Toughen up. Get over it.

I didnt agree when i heard about the couple of venues offering final spots for the last few weeks.
But
The powers to be made that decision and opened the door to players who hadnt made the finals one last chance.

If i hadnt made the finals elsewhere i too would have had a crack.

Couger i think you have lost the plot mate.
You say this then that, want this then that.
But you too had a shot at qualifying at the last minute but missed. Then you winged because you didnt make it.
You can say what you want and whinge all you like but at the end of the day the powers to be have set the guidelines and everyone has the same set of rules like them or not.

The powers to be (Garth Etc) do a fantastic job and any ideas that might improve the system and the game im sure Garth takes it on board.

So Couger stop whinging and put forward positive ideas. If you cant give constructive comments or ideas we will have to tranquilise you and put you back in your cage :P

Cougar, you imply that people playing at the venues in the last two weeks for finals spots - haven't played anywhere else all season.

Ermm, wrong.

I assure you, those people play EVERYWHERE.

I talked to Colin Kelly at the Tonsley on Sunday. He plays a lot of poker but failed to get a spot in the final.

So, he went to the Tonsley with Mary, and played. Ended up 3rd, and got in.

It's almost like a wildcard ....
