Darts instead of poker .....
"Call, and I'll throw the rest of my darts at your head."
Maybe not ....

Re: Season Format Idea
The idea is to change the format for 1 week between seasons but still having an incentive to play as normal.
It would be interesting to see the weekly winners play off in a Sit & Go format

Re: Season Format Idea
I dont like the SNG Shootout idea.
General NPL are multi table tourneys. Changing to a single table to get through to the State Finals completely changes the game.
Compare it to the Pura Cup... you play 4 day games all year... then the top four play off in 20/20 games to make the grand final... it just doesnt work.
If you are going to have a regional qualifier stage it would have to be multi table.
Leave the single table shootouts for the novelty events.

Re: Season Format Idea
That's a fair point, Des.
One of the problems with setting aside the 10th week of the season for qualifiers etc is the revenue loss to the venues. Sure, you can say that they can still run a game for everyone else, but if it's for no points, how many would really show up? There'd have to be a pretty reasonable prize put up to attract the same sort of numbers they would for a standard NPL points based event.

Re: Season Format Idea
Run Separately Des
Still keep the current finals system but with a 9 week season instead of 10 (the only change)
Keep the top 50 but with less emphasis
The Sit & Go format would be exclusive to Venues Tournament winners only
You can make the finals and the top 50 by being consistiant and just pulling points but to make the Sit & Go Qualifiers and Final you must win
Would love Garths comment

Re: Season Format Idea
So what you are saying is:
9 week season
Top 50 qualify
Top 5 at Venue qualify
Tourney winners who havent qualified would play-off in a last change shoot-out tournament in week 10.
