Are the way the rules are addressed different depending on the tournament?
Someone mucked someone elses hand in the GF and received a 1 orbit penalty.
But not in the rebuy.

But wasn't the GF penatly because the player involved wasn't the dealer?
I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become

The "someone" in the Grand final was not the dealer, the other "someone" in the rebuy was the dealer.

Re: Yep, Garth has copped cr@p already...
Thanks for clarifying the comment Paul and as I said, I appologise if I read it wrong. My other reason for picking it up was I had someone comment to me privately on Facebook chat, about it.
This person is a reader, not a contributer.
They wondered, as I did, if it had been anyone else, eg: any unknown player, if it would have been as unfortunate.
Again, I never said your DECISION showed favouritism, I said your comment in regards to "unfortunately it happened to ... " showed a touch of .. "I am sorry it happened to blah blah blah... but if it happened to Joe Blow, then he should have been more careful"
You answered that.. and I misread your comment. Again, I appologised more than once if I read it wrong.
I do want to say, that it was never a question of favourtism shown by your ruling... and there is NEVER a question of impropriety when it comes to decisions made by 888pl staff.. especially in a Grand Final, State Final tournament.
I know enough to know to NEVER in question it..
There are so many rules that are black and white. So many procedures that are in place to ensure fair and equitable decisions for all parties.
Whilst there is always grey areas in any competition, you made the following statement:
So this leads me to question, if you have so many pushing the limits of your patience, why can't you use rules in print to sort issues out?
You will always... ALWAYS get those that argue a point with you.. and to quote the most annoying of quotes "But (such and such) does it this way and we have been allowed to do it for ages."
Again, printed rules stop ALL arguments.
Personally speaking, if I have been told to do something one way for my entirety of playing through NPL and 888pl, then trust me, in most cases the only thing that will convince me your not trying to mess me about is the rule right in front of me!
Especially if I have met you once and your making a ruling in regards to my tournament life!
I do understand the grey area.. Truly I do, but there are still guidelines.
Players talk.. you know that. They talk about TC's, rules, and what they got away with and what they don't get away with each one.
You will always get one TC that 'interprets' the rules one way, whilst another one down the road interprets it another way.
There is no consistency in that.. again, black and white is consistent.
Did anyone find out what a SA TC would have done in the case of mucking the cards?
What about what the other VIC TC's would do?
Is there consistency over the board in regards to this rule now?
I ran the rules once.. I got my warning and lost the respect of a TD I really liked. To be honest, the worst part was losing the respect of the TD. That took A LONG time to get back.
I took the warning and have since made sure I don't do the wrong thing. Often to my own detriment.
The rules are in place to be fair to all players.
Running a fair game comes from following fair and equitable rules for ALL players.
Again, thanks for answering Paul.
