My Grand final

Postby madali » Fri Aug 27, 2010 8:58 am

Ok so the plan was to be prepared for the grand final but hey things happen :D
So here was the plan a month ago.

I decided that no matter what happened I was going to be at this event. Started to panic when Garth said there may only be limited tickets left so decided time to buy in directly and then went to work on convincing my husband that he should allow me to do this :D Managed to convince him the day before the ticket arrived so all good.

Went online shopping and got my new meditation cd's and cymbals so I could work on my mind and being prepared mentally. Cymbals are great as when you have many bad beast instead of banging my laptop or leaving venue upset taking it out on my car on the trip home, I now bang them loudly and say in my calmest voice "Love and peace for all" and bang ready to move on. With the cds not sure if they helped as I am usually asleep in the first 5 minutes. Got all the dvd's I needed to inspire me ordered from JB hifi.

This week planned to........
I had a selection of DVD's to watch, was going for a massage, was going to pick up my lucky bracelet as it is getting fixed, was going to have Friday and Monday off to really be prepared, was going to play a mass of poker, finish at least one book and was going to eat healthy all week and get heaps of sleep. I was going to chant daily and meditate morning and night.

Managed to .....
Sleep heaps.

Missed.......
Due to new role at work all my leave was canceled. This left no time for massages, reading or playing lots of poker. Dvd's were out as still waiting for some to arrive. Morning meditation was also out as cant afford to go back to sleep. Meditation cymbals did not ding once after someone at work threatened to shove them up my arse last week if I banged them once more. Forgot to pick up my bracelet and with many meetings today will not get a chance to pick them up.

New plan.....

Finish work tonight at 6 ish, Drive to my friends house and up bright and early to head to Caulfield tomorrow. Then it will be just down to playing my best, hoping to win the flips and enjoying the weekend no matter what happens. Think this is the better plan anyway. Good luck to all. I hope everyone has a marvelous happy Friday. Ding love and peace to all.G

LOL Gayle - I need to buy me some cymbals. I can just imagine you at the GF getting bad beat, standing up and pulling them out of your hand bag and giving them a bang. "Serenity now!"

Thanks Jacqianie that would be great :D . And you would be surprised kids love meditation cymbals.

As you can tell I am already behind was supposed to be on the road now but haven't even packed my bag. Hopefully will be gone shortly.

Trishan you can borrow my meditation cymbals anytime. They are a great stress reliever. People always comment on how calm I usually am and that is because I have always bashed my internal cymbals. But now that I have the real thing Woop Woop look out. Have managed to upload some of my songs to my ipod. At the moment it is a mix of showtek, jackson browne and meditation so I will go from bouncing off the walls, to a trip down memory lane and finally to sleep all in the matter of one blind level.

Catch you all soon. G

My Grand final

Postby madali » Sun Aug 29, 2010 12:13 pm

Went out in 79th just before the end of day one. Wasn't getting any cards and was fairly shortstacked for the majority of the day. Played some pretty tight good poker so was happy with that. Most of the plays I made I was happy with except the last 2 hours where I did not push enough to keep myself at at a halfway decent stack. Had a couple of speculative hands in mid position that I should of pushed with instead of letting myself get down to a really low stack. Nearing the end of day 1 16k left with 7 invested with big blind and ante just called the all ins of 2 other players hoping to get lucky. Oh well you live and learn and there is always next time.

Had a great day though. benny the cunt you wont believe it but I actually folded pocket queens pre flop. Turned out to be a great fold as the guy had pocket Aces and I would have got smashed ( there was a player all in so got to see the flop). For the day I got 5 pocket pairs and at this stage it was only my second pocket pair and it hurt so bad to fold as I had reraised almost a quarter of my stack. As soon as he flipped the aces over though I was so happy.

Started the day with a lot of people a didn't know and old man Swanky. I knew old man Swanky could play and took the advice that benny the cunt has given previously and identified the good players on the table. There was the ex td from SA and I knew he could play and Con something or other and he scared me which was a pretty good indication that he was someone I needed to respect. Other than that felt pretty comfortable.

Kept my emotions in check and although I never had a big stack just kept reminding myself that my stack was enough to build on and win. Trusted my judgement most of the time and quickly folded if my head was screaming get out and did not go with my heart at all which was great. In each of these instances even though I had hit good I would have been smashed if I called. So even if I did not cash I have taken a lot of positives away from this game.

Thank you 888pl and staff for another wonderful event. Hopefully I will be at the next one and next time will be looking to cash

Oh by the way my preparations for the event went beyond wrong when I jumped in the car and 20 minutes out Bendigo realised my husband had taken my showtek cd out of the car. No hooning for this old dear. Get to Melbourne go to play meditation on my ipod and my son had replaced it with songs of praise the cathedral version. What do they say the best laid plans :D
