im not sure what he has here on the river that you beat.

i suppose you have to work out whether KT and KQ are in his range enough of the time compared with AK/KJ/flushes

tough spot. i agree, raise to 115 on the turn and get it in there when you know that you have the best hand.

on the river, i dont think its horrible to check call here. its a pretty scary river, and you can get a lot of the hands you beat to bet for value still (i.e KT/KQ)

sigh call

Knowing what I had, it looks like I played it horribly - but there were contributing factors.

I was racking up my chips, talking to Sarah and did not even see the Good Player in the hand until the re-raise (spare me the awareness lecture please :) )

I was confident I had the SB beat as he values top pair pretty highly and hadn't seen him check raise all night. His check was def trying to get to showdown cheap

How did the guy(s) see me? Probably as decent. The pots I won at showdown were all played properly. I straddled a few times. Not drinking.

You better believe i sighed, and called.

He had AK a few times and always raised to about $16ish so I ruled that out, I thought runner runner flush was possible but unlikely.

I thought it all through and thought he had a Kx and only became confident with the river K (making a reraise easy against my hand that could have been Ax)

He showed ??

Final Guesses Please?

I don't like it as much as when I thought ep, but I'm going JJ

I understand you discounting AK, but that still seems well in range

He rolled quads at showdown!

Or something equally as ridiculous as TT- and or J5

But if he is a good player as you state I can only see him check raising quads or the boat on the river.

He has played every street like he has the nuts. So I am seriously thinking KK, AK or AA in the hole.

Don't be blaming your lack of awareness on me!

(I will also comment with my thoughts when you post the hand)

He rolls............

[ Js ] [ 6s ] for rivered flush.

In hindsight it was a weird raise on the river with no where near the nuts but I am certainly guilty of letting him get there both on the flop and turn.

$200 refresher course in alot of things I s'pose.

Thanks for your posts, it seems I was not alone in thinking the flush was unlikely, but should have definately agreed with the consensus that I was beat.

I have another good one, but I better get some work done and post it at lunch time!

Damn too late, but I was going to say small/med connecting suited spades, 76, 65 or something.

I cant see how him just calling every street then raising when the flush hits neccessarily means a big hand earlier than the river ??

Our Hero flopped the nuts, so it cant be that.
I would have thought if he flopped a set or something you would have heard more from him earlier with so many draws... c/c/r IP spells flush to me... Its a tough spot though, as a good player would bluff at it to sometimes. Your river bet looks like a blocker with the straight, a set or 2 pair, and scared of the flush possibility...

After the turn, I play this exactly as you did, but fold to the raise....
Image ...11.59% of bad beat stories are just misplayed hands ...
