Hi Guys,
Adam has recently forwarded an email chain from two posters on this forum who believe "that his 888pl peers should know about this ". The email was in regards to allowing a player to directly buy in who was suspended for 12 weeks up until July 1st.
So I will give you some background on this player:
1.) Was suspended for two weeks for abusive language on 888 in early March.
2.) Was permitted to rejoin the league and participate when he stood up in venue and swore loudly, Adam was present and suspended player for one whole season.
3.) Has played more than ten games since his return to the league and is a regular participant at two venues and plays approx 2 - 4 games per week.
As the player has continued to play and seems to have rectified his anti social behaviour we have allowed him to directly buy into the Grand Final.
Do you as players see this as fair or should he not be permitted to participate in the 888PL Grand Final until next year?
There is a rule that quantifies suspension and forfeiting finals entry but in this case this Grand Final does not really have any feeder seasons and thus (IMHO) is not quantifiable when it comes to the Grand Final; which is predominantly player funded.
To the two forum posters who have made their argument known, please feel free to contribute your thoughts here as well, I may have missed some of you salient argument points.

Did the crime, did the time, and now they shouldn't continue to be punished if they have learnt their lesson.
You say their behaviour has improved, so I say, let them play.

Also, GK forgot to mention, the player had qualified for a semi-final that they were EXCLUDED from due to the suspension. So not only have they done the crime and done the time, during the 'time', they missed out on playing in our $30,000 flagship State event.

Re: Previously suspended player permitted to play in 888PL GF
Garth just to clarify the situation. He got suspended the second time for a season and still continued to play? Has a season passed since that second suspensions or is there a certain amount of time left?
I think if he is still suspended and given the strong stance that the league has taken on player abuse/abuse language, a strict line should be taken against repeat offenders. Even though his buy-in is adding to the prizepool, I think if he has been suspended he needs to be suspended from all 888PL events including the GF. This should serve as an example to future players that the league will not tolerate abusive language and particularly repeat offenders.

Suspension finished on July 1st.
Was suspended in early March the first time.
Is no longer suspended.
Was it not clear in the OP Trishan? I am confusing myself trying to understand where your confusion stems from?

My opinion let him play if you think he is reformed. He had already missed 1 semi final and also the majority of a season. I am a huge believer in punishing players who abuse others either verbally or physically and this appears to have already been done.

Sorry didn't read it carefully enough. If he has served his suspension and is not suspended at the current moment then I don't see an issue with it.

Re: Previously suspended player permitted to play in 888PL GF
part of the 888pl rule book below
8.4. Any player who has been suspended during the regular season will not be permitted to participate in any finals even though they may have achieved the qualification criteria.
pretty straight foward i say,
obviously the above rule was used for his exclusion from the last vic semi.
all that needs to be known is - is the period he was suspended part of the "regular season" that pertains to this next grand final.
if it is then the above rule should be enforced,
He would then be eligible for the next grand final in march.
if the period he was suspended was part of the "regular season" of the last grand final, then he should be free to play.

Re: Previously suspended player permitted to play in 888PL GF
if 888pl doesn't think he is worthy of playing in a grand final, they should have either banned him for longer, or specifically banned him from the grand final as well. so if he has completed the suspension, then he is free to play if he wants.
having said that, if this person breaks the rules at the grand final, it will look pretty bad on 888pl's behalf.
not sure. i think you have to let him play or ban him for longer

Re: Previously suspended player permitted to play in 888PL GF
i dont think it matters how long the suspension is, the rule only states that there was a suspension during the regular season.
so any suspension no matter how long during a particular season automatically exculdes you from ANY finals that are attached to that season
simple
