trust me, if we were in either a dictatorship or a communist country, there wouldn't be any voting that means anything.

You don't have to vote.
You have to rock up.

gundog wrote:And you were the one that basically said you were voting Labor because of the NBN and your dislike for Abbot, surely you could quantify what policies and accomplishments the current govt has done to invite you vote for them to continue in Government, also you have openly stated that you have always voted Labor, does this patten come from an informed decision or historical influence.

the reason i am voting labour is pretty much because of the NBN.

i thought kevin rudd did a horrible job whilst he was in. he HAS to be commended for his efforts and ideas, but the implementation was just horrible and he deservedly gets the flick.

to be honest i dont like julia gillard much either.

BUT

i really really dont like tony abbott's conservative stance on a lot of things, particularly immigration, and the scrapping of the NBN. he is a move in the wrong direction for liberal. i had a lot of time for turnbull, and i thought he was going in the right direction with bipartisan talks on climate change.

so until liberal announced their opposition to the NBN, i was truly on the fence.

for some reason i can't bring myself to vote for a minor party, because i like to feel like my vote counts for something. maybe because i have always been in a marginal seat has helped this.

and for the record, my old man is also a staunch labor voter and has had involvement with unions, so there definitely is a bias there. but he never told me to vote labor and i have never talked to him about it

I totally agree , when they spend more on elections than most 3rd world countries earn through their GDP . It is criminal .

apparently this is not true, tho I always assumed it to be so.

I think the act says you must turn up, get ticked off the list and mark your paper in the private booth, or something like that.
