I can't see anywhere that the forum regs condone registering and not playing. I would think that the majority (if not all but you Trishan) would look at it as one of the lowest things you could do.....
What?, poker without the river??, you've just made my dreams come true!!!

I think everyone has raised most of the valid points.

From my perspective as a TD, i always do a check over the tables to see how many runners i have to how many registered. This is more from the point of if i have missed anyone so that they can get their 10 points. Having sub 40 venues it is easy to do this.

One of my old venues also pays by the head. I did the head count, purely as a way to make certain that they are getting charged at the right rate.

There have been a few times where people have rego'ed and have then left, not even taking their seat to play the game. In these venues knowing most of the reg's by name helps a lot in working out who is missing of the list, and if i need to go looking for them.

I have never asked or sought clarification, but i have never had an issue of unregistering them from the event. In my eyes not taking the seat means your not playing the game and shouldn't be getting points. The venue doesn't deserve to be charged. And when it comes to that last part of the season for qualifying on Leaderboards or getting game counts up. Players don't deserve the extra points, or the game counted on their tally.

If players call up and ask to be registered i hold onto their drink cards and if they haven't turned up same deal.

It all comes down to the spirit of fairness.

I think the way you have gone about this Trishan, has probably hurt your case rather than helped it.

The rules are clear on this point Ben, you have to present to play

Trishan you said it yourself. If you're not there, you can't play & therefore can't gain any benefit.

It seems quite obvious that this was not just a once off occurence due to personal circumstances. You saw a loophole that you thought you could exploit. It didn't work out that way for you & now you are mad. As a loyal venue supporter & GF qualifier, sorry if you don't get the support from those who play each week & have qualified legitimately.

It should not be such a big deal - just move on & get down to your local next week.

trishan,

Instead of registering and going home and then return to play, do it like the rest of us, register when you turn up to play.

However I dont believe you actually intended to return, you got caught out so suck it up princess and stop sooking about it.

And just for the record I fully support the TC, for doing the right thing for the venue, the players and the company, because it could be considered fraud for registering non attending players, the venue cannot be expected to pay for players that do not attend.
42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot.

Sorry Trishan I just simply do not understand.

Granted, I play a LOT of Venue poker. Because I can, and I love it. Would much rather be playing a venue than on line, but thats just me. I also recognise that not everyone can, due to a variety of personal reasons, play as often as I do. I also recognise the importance in supporting the venues, without the venues there aint no league.

But, the crtiteria is 10 games in 13 weeks (3 months Dave, not 6). That is less than 1 game per week. The rewards for meeting this criteria are huge. Dreamteam qualifications and Grand Finals both contribute huge riches and rewards. To not be able to meet the criteria of 10 games in 13 weeks and still want to participate and enjoy those rewards is a bit like saying "No, I didn't buy a lottery ticket, but give me first prize anyway".

4 games since the last Grand Final ??? really ?
Trishan, no offence intended OK, but if you're not contributing, then you don't qualify..surely..as Adam said:
1.Tournament captains reserve the right to make decisions in the spirit of fairness, even if a strict interpretation of the rules may indicate a different ruling.

Spirit of fairness, is what this is all about.
Stupid game..... Never playing again

Quoting from a BigPete33 post from a while back.

From the 888pl website: In order to qualify for any of the 888PL Finals Series from 2010 (not the upcoming Semis and Grand Final in Jan/Feb) players MUST play a minimum of 10 Away (in venue) games.

PLAY.

Not register.

PLAY.

PapaBear, it's 10 games between Grand Finals. Which are 6 months apart.
I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become

It's actually ten games between Grand Finals - which is more than 13 weeks.
