bennymacca wrote:i am expecting at least a sentence on each of these questions, as well as your working out.
1.what are pot odds in general terms? what direct pot odds are we getting here? (maths question)
2. what is our percentage chance of having a better hand on the turn/river, if our opponent has a) [ac] [ah] b) [9h] [2c] c) [9h] [9c](use pokerstove or odds calculator)
3. what are the minimum odds we require in each of the above cases (hint: turn the above percentage into a pot odds number).
4. are we getting the correct odds if our opponent has either of the 2 hands above.
5. give me a short sentence on implied odds. comment on the significance of implied odds in this case. how does the board texture affect implied odds.
1. 5.75 :1
2. AA 10% turn 5% river (flop odds halved then halved again is my workings out)
92 19% turn 9.5% river
99 7.5% turn 4% river
3.a) 4:1 b)2.6:1 c) 15:1
4 If my 5.75:1 is right (or close to right) calling the 1200 with a) & b) is correct - c) is not
5 This is a tough implied odds situation. Any 8 will mostly kill action, unless he has a 10 (posiibly the other end too) without the J. If this is the case, we would get PAID - but it is unrealistic. I don't know how a J or 10 will impact if it falls as the next card - it may or may not make us a winning hand - it may cost us plenty more bets if we call his bets on remaining streets.
I don't think the implied odds can make a call 'more' beneficial/correct.
I'm at work, can't add to much more - are you a school teacher?
May all your pain be champagne!

well done gmatical, this is exactly the type of response that i was after.
im not saying whether or not is 100% correct just yet, but the answers you give are concise and directly address the question. well done, you are in the lead at the moment.
no, my brother is though. but i have done more than my fair share of uni exams over the past 6 years, and one of the key skills is to address the question which you have done well.

I think Glenn has pretty much answered the questions, except I don't think you can work out your river card odds on the flop, you really need to see the turn card before knowing your odds on the river, as it makes a huge difference....
What?, poker without the river??, you've just made my dreams come true!!!

i think there is some stuff that is slightly wrong with gmaticals post, but i want a couple more people to post first before i give my answers, and then we can discuss whether my answers are right or not.
