Surely (among other things) there's questions that need to be asked. Obvious examples would include "is this person a wanted criminal?" or "are they really a <insert profession here>?" or "are they actually from the country they say they're from?"
I'm not sure I can understand how getting that sort of information from a third world, war torn country can possibly be seen as easily achievable, or done in what you and I would consider a reasonable amount of time. I get a bit ticked off when people declare it should be done quicker, as though it takes 24 hours or something. Clearly, it shouldn't take x number of years either - but I'm sure you understand my point here.
