OK,
1.) NPL = Not all about poker or poker skills.
2.) NPL = Business, and as a business we need to create revenue and to create a sustainable/marketable product.
3.) NPL = FUN, FAIR and FREE poker at all of our venues.
4.) NPL = Majority of people just want a good time. We need to keep things simple and easy to explain, some of the ideas being regurgitated or spewed up are either redundant or almost to the point of ridiculousness.
I apologize for some of the formats put forward by staff, and in no way are they indicative of the direction we may be taking. In saying that I think it is awesome to see staff voicing their opinion on this forum.
To say a player can play 100 games and play terribly and still make the finals is wrong, even at 100 games they would need to final table at least 15 times in a field of 45 or more? That would have to be a bare minimum. I repeat that is a final table appearance 15 times out of 100! Most of our upper echelon players should be final tabling 25% to 30% of the time, if anyone disagrees with these percentages let me know. So therefore even at a strike rate of 15% this player would have to be classified as an average player.
And at NPL that is what the majority of our players are, average people with average or novice skills, who wish to head out to a pub for a good meal and some drinks with old or new friends.
As a company any marketing or revenue building idea that we generate will be targeted at our greatest market: the average player who just wants a social night out.
Every argument put forward or any rebuttal is redundant. This topic has just turned into one big flame and it's now beginning to sound like siblings arguing against each other, not because there is an argument but just for the sake of it.
There is obviously no point stating, again and again, why we have put the new system into place and how it isn't that great a detriment to other players and how it is a way of rewarding the BEST NPL players. Not the best poker players in NPL but the best NPL players.
But something you should do, is next time you see one of our "mega game" players, is thank them. Because without this small percentage of players playing repeatedly; the prize pools you play for would not be as large. Every player who plays more than two games a week, drives an additional $2000 into the prize pools each year. Now that all adds up in the long run. So the top 50 of the State leaderboard drives in almost $100,000 per year. That's pretty ambiguous but it gives you an idea of how much those multi game players are worth to this company, and to yourselves as serious players playing for a chunk of over $1,000,000 in prizes and cash we are offering this year.
The current system used will not be altered. Not for several seasons at least, so guys get used to it. I will retract the previously made statements if you either get s petition signed or get players to email me, if I hear from over 4000 players (20% of our membership) then I will contemplate changing the system.
