I can laugh about it now, and I can even almost laugh about a player who tried to convince me that her play on Saturday was the right play.

I was in BB, looked down to see QQ. Everyone limps in front of me - blinds were 100/200.

So I raise to 1700 pre-flop, and I get 2 callers! (First of all I'm thinking, you're kidding?? Then, meh! I did expect at least one ) Actually the second caller raised all in to 1800, so of course mine and the other guys extra 100 went in.

Flop comes over 6 7 2 (rainbow).
I check the dry-pot.
The other guy still in bets 1000.

I can't put him on hitting the flop, and call.

Turn rag - check/check
River 7 - check/check

The guy turns over A5 offsuit - he was betting his A

The woman who was all in rolls over 67!!!

It was a TC bounty event, and the TC who was on our table couldn't believe the original call. To which I replied, you have to get used to it

Best part about it (and yes I can laugh now) was she justified her call because she'd been getting crap and still had her stamped card behind her. Then later on when we were outside, I'd been knocked out by this stage, she states "I never crack QQ, but I've done it twice today!" Not sure how that was meant to make me feel better though??!! :)

we quite often have 5 or 6 of us sitting on the same table.

it means that its harder to qualify, because we would most certainly be better than the average player, but it makes for a fun night.

in general, i dont worry about point scoring in venue, and i have much more fun.

I used to do that, stand at the bar until there were only a few seats left, thereby leaving it to chance who I was seated with, but now I'm definitely with benny the cunt here, do you practice table selection online?
Why not in-venue then?
Maybe you cant in buyin events, but it definitely makes the foundation events more fun, and thats what I am there for... I only have 1 or 2 personal friends from outside poker that play, and only 1 regularly, but there are quite a few I have gotten to know at the pub who play well, and by this I also mean the game runs well and fast, and they dont do silly things like moan at flops or otherwise indicate what they have folded, so now I always try to sit with them.
Fun is the reason I play these events, and to socialize with a few other poker 'fanatics'... If it was a matter of the points, as benny the cunt said, online is usually easier to get them, and if its about money, well I would be much better off staying at home ;)

But also remember, as in the case of the woman who called your 8.5BB raise with 76... you should LOVE her making that call as you are going to smash her most of the time. I think every venue (even online game?) has those who make plays that leave us scratching our heads thinking wtf? (and often beat us) And when they do (beat us) I try to remind myself that, in the long run, we want these calls, because the majority of times we will win: Pokerstove reports you with over 57% equity here if both opponents hands are offsuit, and only slightly less if suited is possible, so gladly accept their calls as you are stacking them most of the time...
Your winrate is over twice that of A5o and over 3 times that of 76o. And if you forget the A5 hand, then about 5/6 times you are stacking her. :D

I do sit with a regular group of friends in foundation events, and we're all very competitive and it makes for an enjoyable night. I can't complain in that regard, nor can I complain about my ability to make points, I finished very respectably on the State Leaderboard :)

For the most part I'm fairly confident with my playing ability, but it just seems that the 'less than serious' (is that a nice way of saying donk??) player count seems to be on the rise at our venues. And I'm not sure if it's because there's more challenge games so they're out to try and make easy money, or if it's just that my own play has become more disciplined.

Either way, I do still enjoy the game.......praying the poker gods help me tonight though. Its the second terminator event at the local venue, and last week it was amazing to see what people would shove with, just in an attempt to take someone's $5 bounty chip!!

I agree with the comments that have already been posted. I guess you can look at these types of really really loose players as a chance to learn how to play against that style of "play". But definately you have to get your chips in when you have big hands and cross your fingers it holds up.

And remember some days you'll be the pigeon and other day you'll be the statue :)

Yep, samehappens on online bounty/knockout tourneys...
Had the same problem as (I think) Nathan the other night... 2 players I busted down to less than a BB and they were both UTG in the hand I almost stacked them! and of course i get 63o next hand  ARRRGGGHHH!
