Sitting on your chips

I over heard a conversation the other day and a player was suggesting to another competitor to sit on their chips. By the tone of it i assumed it was a way of cheating.

I didn't hear the full conversation.

I was thinking maybe they were putting chips in their pocket before the first break so they could go allin and not loose their complete stack. Obviously this only works before the drinks cards are cashed.

Has anyone else heard of this term or practice?

I dont think it meant playing tight.

I would have thought just to not play many hands and basically blind out.

Depends in the context of it all. Maybe you are reading too much into it?

Sit on your chips means not to play any hands, to fold almost anything including strong Aces, you might play cowboys or rockets. But when a player "sits on their chips" it generally means to tighten up your game substantially.

It makes sense sitting on ur chips is to play tight, but i dont believe this is what he was reffering to

btw chip was returned in season 1 with the 4 blind buttons, 19 Aces and 6 twos. (got too hot to wear sleaves)

I would not be surprised if the practice existed.

Did hear at 1 venue this week where a father and son playing at the same table after a player went all in there was a discussion along the lines of who should call the all in eventually the father called the all in because his son suggested that he had the bigger stack and a better chance of winning.

The father ended up winning the hand, the player who lost was very irate because of the table talk and felt it was not within the spirit of the rules.

Or could these 2 have some sort of signal system as to who playes what hands, I cannot recall ever seeing them raise a bet against each other.
