Misclick leads to tough descison.....

Postby BionicMike » Fri Jun 11, 2010 12:51 am

Grabbed byHoldem Manager
NL Holdem $4(BB) Poker Stars
SB ($442)
BB ($200)
UTG ($632)
UTG+1 ($600)
CO ($74)
Hero ($200)

Dealt to Hero 6:diamond: J:diamond:

fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to $100, fold, BB raises to $200 (AI),

Spoiler:
Hero calls $100 (AI)

FLOP ($402) J:spade: Q:heart: K:heart:

TURN ($402) J:spade: Q:heart: K:heart: Q:diamond:

RIVER ($402) J:spade: Q:heart: K:heart: Q:diamond: 9:diamond:

BB shows A:club: A:heart:
(Pre 82%, Flop 84.6%, Turn 95.5%)

Hero shows 6:diamond: J:diamond:
(Pre 18%, Flop 15.4%, Turn 4.5%)

BB wins $399

So basically, I've had a great night playing 2/4nl on Stars( I'm lovin the 20 - 50BB tables atm), up about 4 or 5 buy ins and then this..... My keyboard sticks and I open to $100 instead of $10. Solid regular is in the BB and insta shoves his $200. So I'm sitting there with the option to call $100 into a pot of $300 with my humble J6 suited. I call cos I'm a degen, knowing his range is JJ+ and AK, maybe AQ. I was kickin myself for making the call but after stoving it I find I'm 24 - 27 % against that top 3 or 4% range I put him on. So not as horrible as I thought right????

I don't expect to come across this spot often but it is stopping me from sleeping so thought I'd post it for your amusement.

Imagine being the big blind, 1st hand at the table you get AA and before you can come up with a plan to extract maximum value, some doofus has put $100 in the middle. Good times.

Don't turn a $90 mistake into a (likely) $190 mistake IMO.

I've misclicked in tourneys and followed through (hit middle pair etc...) but I don't think this is the same.

There are better ways to degen gamble.......perhaps bet on how far you can throw your hunk o' junk keyboard into traffic?
May all your pain be champagne!

There's always the slight chance the reg knows you missclicked on a standard button raise and is shoving lighter than usual.
We've how about links I would like to know I walk the line scrunches line at how the client Lawrence etc. etc.

+1 - you made the right call against a reship range. Depending on villain I might event move his range out to 7 or 8%

this is a good point.

if you know he is a reg, chances are he thinks of you in the same way, and therefore knows that you will be opening the button light, and that this is a massive misclick
