I am writing to clear up an incident that took place at the Parafield Gardens Community Club on Sunday 19th Dec 2009.
The event held in the evening was to be an 888PL Grand Final satelitte with two guaranteed seats worth $500 each into the Main Event. 888PL guaranteed the seats would be made available as prizes regardless of the amount of players and this was to replace the existing cash prize pool. This information was communicated to the venue management at a briefing session approx 10 days before the scheduled event date. It was also communicated in writing to venue management.
On the day of the event venue management made an announcement to the players that the game would be played for the cash prize pool and not the Grand Final Seats. In this statement it was mentioned that this was not the fault of the venue and that 888pl were responsible. This was incorrect. Venue management made the decision to award cash prizes instead of the Grand Final seats after some confusion arose as to whether the seats would be added to the prize pool or awarded as prizes using the funds generated by the buy ins to the event.
Venue management have since realised their error after it was confirmed this information was provided to them in writing prior to the event and communicated to the players via SMS. Any queries as to this decision should be forwarded to PGCC venue management.
Parafield Gardens Community Club have today informed the 888PL they will no longer be running events in this venue. Whilst we are disappointed by the decision we will of course move on. Hopefully, if you are a player at this venue you will seek out another 888PL tournament to play close by in the region.
