15 week season. 15 seats from the freeroll. There's only room for 3 qualifying finals, but lets be generous and assume a 4th is run at some point. Lets assume that 10 seats are given away at each event (SA and VIC/TAS, 5 each). That makes 55 seats so far.
Top 3 from the Challenge and Foundation final get seats - that's another 6. 61. Parafield gardens is giving one away today, 62. Lets be extra generous and say another 30 or so seats are given away through other promotions.
So we're at 92 seats. That's $46k.
There's no way 888pl are hitting $100k in the GF

Granted the OLGCR has hurt our efforts, our projections for the market were off and their scare tactics did not help.
We will definitely guarantee this prize pool at 50K but the goal of 100K is definitely slipping away. I expect that we can definitely turn this around and there has been a few changes that may see us redeem ourselves and hit the goal of 200 qualifiers.

I believe (and I could be totally 100% wrong) but 888 are banking on players from all over Australia buying their way into the tournament.
If you advertise it as a $100K tournament then they will come, if you advertise it as a 'let's see how many we get' tournament then they won't come.
Joe Hachem might turn up if there is enough prize money!

I'll say it again - I could be 100% wrong on this.

Please note that I am NOT the World Champ, Australian Champ, SA champ or even the Adelaide Hills champ so any advice I give must be taken with tonne of salt

Yeah, obviously you were expecting way more challenge venues then you have now. That crap did not help at all

Hence why we were contemplating allowing direct buy in.
Which we will more than likely do. It's disappointing as when we designed this comp structure, I initially thought 100K would be easy to achieve, unfortunately certain external influences have damaged our possibility of success.
But I am still confident we can hit 200 qualifiers into this event.

Garth, why not run a GF Qualifier every two or three days instead of monthly. Run $2 satellites into a $5 satellite into a GF qualifier. Even a few SnGs might work. 888 does this well with their daily 25K tourneys.
If I think of any other ideas I will post. It'd be nice to get as close to 200 people as possible.

Garth I always assumed it was going to be direct buy in. This way you will get more players and hit your $100K target.

I concur with the direct buy-in idea.
Allow for qualifiers, then first in first served to 200 seats.
Even if you got pros having a crack, who wouldnt want to be in it?
Advertise it and they will come!

I am sure Garth has connections so he can probably get some pros.
Would love to see James "Andy Mcleod" Obst playing. He's from adelaide.

We can have more than 200.
500 players equals quarter of a million!
